Part of a short series of images taken in an authentic and derelict church manse in Glebe, Sydney. It was located on the same piece of land as the original Church (which was also disused). These shots were taken during two visits – the second and last visit spooked me so much – I’ll not be going back…this stairwell was just so rivetting. The colours here are the existing tones in the original image with some slight enhancement.

Bodie Ghost Town in the Seirra Nevada Mountains in Eastern California. This 1800’s Gold town once had a thriving population of 10,000 people. It was a true wild western town with gun fights, saloons and a huge redlight district.

This shot was a junk shot I had already created in HDR, that I was going to toss. There were major issues w/ it, such as large white spot in the corner, blurred spots, etc. But I loved the look of the tree. So I played with it a bit, liked what I came up w/ (which was what you see, minus the girl) but thought something was missing. I added the girl and well, here’s what we got! / I really like the dark ambiance and lost feeling of the piece. I thought it would be nice to show the original shot I was gonna trash. Personally, I like seeing before and afters of photo manips, helps give a sence of what they actually go through to accomplish the final piece. / This piece was featured in and won Out of the Past Group’s May contest, “Ghosts of the Past.” Thank You!!!!!

By far the most famous fictional ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman. The ship has become synonymous with the phenomenon so that “Flying Dutchman” is often used as a generic term for any apparition-type ghost ship. The term may also refer to a real ship that was reported to be seen – often as an apparition – after sinking, or to a ship found floating with no crewmembers on board. According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail “the seven seas” forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. If she is hailed by another ship, her crew will often try to send messages to land, to people long since dead. / Versions of the story are numerous. According to some, the story is originally Dutch, while others claim it is based on the English play The Flying Dutchman (1826) by Edward Fitzball and the novel The Phantom Ship (1837) by Frederick Marryat, later adapted into the Dutch story Het Vliegend Schip (The Flying Ship) by the Dutch clergyman A.H.C. Like all of the work I put on Redbubble. This piece took a long time to finish. I always take my time with important illustrations, especially if I want people to purchase them. The mountains alone took well over 4 hours to complete. I changed them many many times. They could’ve been an illustration by themselves cuz there’s so much detail in them. The idea behind this piece is loosely based on the fact that I never want to give up on my passions in life. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from pursuing your life’s goals. You don’t want to look back and have regrets. They will haunt you forever….those things you told yourself you always wanted to do will become your ghosts. You cannot run away from your passion/s in life. Further more this illustration is a reminder to me. A personal mission statement built into an illustration. I wish I had a dollar for every time / this beauty has had her photo / taken. This has to be one of the most / photographed relics in Bodie. This beautifully decayed ‘37 Chevy / rests now in what was a booming / mining town in the past. The Bodie curse! / Ledgend has it if visitors take anything / from this old ghost town – even a pebble, / they will be cursed with bad luck. / Misfortune and tragedy are heaped / upon the victim until the stolen item is returned. / As my friends will attest, I love picking up / a small rock or leaf as a treasure from places / I visit. Way up on top of the hill hidden behind the trees is the old witches house .. it has stood empty for many years .. well it is empty of the living but .. whats that .. is it the wind .. is it just my imagination .. no .. its the ghosts who live in the house .. featured in the mystical group: Halloween

I captured this around six years back, when we were doing a road trip of the South West. Jerome is a great place, full of character. We stumbled upon Joe’s place by accident – he calls it a ghost town, but it is rather more a collection of old automobiles and other machinery, a great place for a photographer – he has some rather quirky items dotted around the yard ! / Photographed in the heat of the afternoon sun, the light was not at its best for this subject, so I Ortoned and Textured it, to create a better feel. / You Tube do some great tutorials on Photoshop editing etc., including some on textures ! / VIEW LARGE for the details ! / I scanned a Fuji Velvia transparency with my Nikon Coolscan V ED, shipped it into Adobe PS CS3, where I cleaned the image up a bit with the spot removal tool. Then I played around with the Orton and textures until I was happy with the result. / It was shot on a Ricoh KR10 Super, mounted on a tripod, with polarising filter, f22. /

This is a beautiful little community snuggled high up in the mountains near Maricopa, California. During a visit today I took this shot and then processed it in CS3 with textures, filters and effects. This is the little town where I found the man I used in the “Character Portrait” image uploaded earlier. In fact, my wife and I went there for a memorial service for my cousin and that entire community turned out. The gentleman in the character image was a friend of my cousins for many years, whom I had never met before. Wonderful people whom I thank for their hospitality.
