Water splashed up at the boys legs, and as they continued their big push, the sky flashed it’s fury and roared with disapproval. While Jim’s body took flight of its own accord, his mind was frantic with disparate thoughts : “Oh God , if i make it out of here I promise I’ll be good and never forget to say my prayers., Oh I’m so glad I didn’t listen to Tom and wore these boots instead of those silly slippers.,Oh I wonder what could have happened to poor old Patch inside that awful place..Oh what will mother say? ” The reality at that moment however, wasn’t Mother’s wrath or even Father’s strap but a very desperate need for he and his brother to move quickly. The ear piercing shrieks coming from the house were growing louder and a terror induced surge of energy forced the young lad to run like never before, until suddenly he felt a sharp tug, followed by the sound of tearing cloth and an equally sharp stinging across his right thigh. ” T-o-m! T-o-o-m.. I’m hurt.. quickly..” Jim called ahead to the older boy, simultaneously wincing and writhing in the sodden grass, ” Tom hurry..! She’s coming.. she’s coming I tell you!” Reluctantly, Tom gave up the ground he had gained and came to his brother’s aid by beginning to untangle the barbed wire caught up in the wounded boys nightshirt. ” Bloody fool!” seethed Tom, his own heart pounding as the shrieks became louder still. ” It’s not my fault.” sobbed Jim, ” I never wanted to come on this stupid caper in the first place.. I know you only asked me because Fatty Fanshawe can’t run..” ” Never mind about that now.” said Tom as he detached the last threads of the fabric from the last of the rusty spikes. ” On your feet soldier, we have to get to the street before the lamps are put out.. now hurry!” ” Wait..” said Jim as he was pulled to his feet, ” Its stopped.” And for a moment all that could be heard was the sound of the rain hitting hard against the ground..until… ” What’s that?” Tom said looking back in the direction of the path they had taken only seconds before. In horror and disbelief they both stared as they saw the long grass begin to part as though a hellish wind were cutting a path for the Devil himself. Then came the sounds of short, sharp, sickening inhalations of breath interspersed with noxious spitting and the most cruelly vindictive hissing…
Taken at Wakki Beach. This place really does exist – near Scotts Head on the North Coast of NSW, Australia. SOLD one extra large canvas print – thanks to the buyer
Amazing sky taken at dawn north coast NSW
This one is for those who were with me who chose to exercise while I took photos – makes no sense to me …. but I promised to share my impressions of Barwon Heads. Also to Linda who, against her better judgement, dragged herself out of bed to drive me down to the beach.
On the Domain Walkway, Sydney. Converted with HDR, then used LAb colour blend with overlay and inverse;. Finally used Flaming Pear chromosolarise to give the scary effect to the stranger. Welcome some feedback on this one.
Fishermen near Southbeach, Wollongong on the south coast of NSW waiting for the first catch of the day. I love the peacefulness of this scene.
This was taken at Barwon Heads, just past Geelong in Victoria.
Took this one in Glasgow – separate entrances for boys and girls. I was imagining how young children felt as they entered this scary building and used the angle to capture from a child’s perspective. The clouds added a very ominous look to the scene. Tried this one in B&W – seems to have more impact than the colour version.
Taken near Cathedral Rocks, Kiama, NSW. This is a superb area for photography if you are ever down this way.
As people age, they often talk about how they become invisible to those around them, especially politicians and shop assistants. Both colour and reflection are used here to highlight one who is not invisible.
Digital Xprocessing treatment – inspired by the cross-processed-photography group / but have processed a mono image to create this effect.
Sometimes in my journey across the landscapes of the Bubble I find an image or two that I know instantly I want to take off-world. / This one of Geraldine Lefore’s was one such image. So this is a collaboration between Geraldine and myself. I used Geraldine’s image Never Too Old Movie title ” Journey to the Pools of Regeneration” The account of one humanoids trek across the world of “Kronulla Prime” to reach the pools before she faded away. / Based on a true story. On Kronulla Prime lives a humanoid race who after reaching the ripe old age of 99,begin to fade. / Not their life essence, but their bodies, when this begins to happen they must find and immerse themselves in the healing waters of the Sea of Geraldinia. They must do this once every 99 years, but this is part of the life force that lets them attain great age, sometimes spanning many centuries. Here we see one such being about to step into the Pool of Regeneration after her long journey. I could not resist capturing this moment, and with the backdrop of the ringed planet Lefoesholme and the moon Austra set against the beautiful Kembla Mountains, I will treasure this photo.
This balloon appeared from nowhere, dropped and floated over our heads while we were busy chasing another one in Canberra early one morning
Dawn at Seven Mile Beach near Gerroa on the south coast of NSW
Staying at Mollymook, on the south coast NSW for work last week and I couldn’t believe what a gorgeous area it is. For me this captures the very first light after the sun peeks over the horizon – the reflection on the rocks and the cool green water strike a wonderful contrast.
