Met these two chaps on a dreadfully cold day in the Cotswolds on my last trip to England. No idea on the species but they sure do look a pair of characters. UPDATE: Finally got around to discovering the origin of these funny fellows. Seems they are used to warmer weather ...... Brazillian weather in fact. This is the Guira Cuckoo. One of the most common birds found in Bazil. They usually look much smoother than this so I can only assume that I caught this likely looking pair when they were puffed up against the cold. regards, Graham

So the body of a man is the husk which perishes; but the soul, the spiritual embryo, starts into new life of precisely the same nature as it has before. This is my tribute to Muntazer al-Zaidi. The legendary journalist who threw his shoe at George W Bush during his farewell visit to Iraq. Clearly it is based on Banksy’s “Flower Chucker” stencil which is based on a photo from the 1968 riots in Paris. I’ve tried to keep it faithful to both Banksy and Muntazer by illustrating his head as close as possible to the original press conference image, in the style of “Flower Thrower”. I also illustrated the shoe to fit his hand just nicely and added a bit of definition to the fingers. Love to know what you think. Good riddance George Dubbaya. Muntazer al-Zaid may be the thrower, but you certainly are the tosser. / / / / / / /
...Is a great woman. Or, in this case, four. I originally made this t-shirt (a satire on the Experimental Jetset tee, “John& Paul& Ringo& George.”) with iron-on letters, as some kind of “f-ck you” to the tiresome musical snobs who fawn over male deities like The Beatles and forget the numerous women in rock – and also as an in-joke between my partner and I, who both always say “Yoko was the best Beatle”. So many people asked me where I got the tee that I decided to make a finished version for you lovely RedBubble types. And no, it’s not Helvetica, but just like we don’t really need another t-shirt glorifying The Beatles, do we really need to let Helvetica get any more out of control than it already is? ;-)

So we went to a party last night, got a little merry and filled the taxi home with balloons. Matron allowed us to keep them, on the condition that we didn’t let them anywhere near the kitties. Sadly, George has a helium addiction and is under vet’s orders not to inhale any, lest he starts reciting Shakespeare again. I’m not so sure there’s anything to worry about given that’s just the effect you get with the pink furry pills – and they’re perfectly safe. So anyway, I wanted to see what would happen if George ate a helium balloon. It has this effect, evidently…

I’ve been meaning to do this montage for a while. George (the redish big fat biffa boy) and Millie (the “I don’t think about where I’m going to land” girl) have so much energy and are such athletic cats that we end up having to do this pretty much everyday to get rid of some of their energy. As I hope you’ll see, getting a good shot can be pretty random, but if you focus at the rough height they can jump to, you eventually can get lucky.

Result of Bush’s economic policy. Hunger In America From Science News, October 28, 2005 Hunger In America Rises By 43 Percent Over Last 5 Years The USDA report, Household Food Security in the United States, 2004, says that 38.2 million Americans live in households that suffer directly from hunger and food insecurity, including nearly 14 million children. That figure is up from 31 million Americans in 1999. Dr. J. Larry Brown, an authority on hunger, stated the following: “With this astonishing level of food deprivation in America,” Brown concluded, “we need President Bush to step up to the plate. If he now asks Congress to cut federal food programs, hunger will increase even further. We need the moral leadership to stem this crisis.” Full Text of the Article Hunger In America 2007 Statistics LIMITED EDITION PRINTS CLICK HERE
