Geese returning, framed against the Kenai mountain range across Cook Inlet. Signs and sounds of spring near our house, despite ice chunks in the inlet. Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 18-200mm at f/11 and 1/250 sec, -.3ev, using a circular polarizing filter. IS0 200. Converted from RAW to jpeg using Capture NX2. Light curve and slight crop. Sun sets about 9:45 p.m. these days, and we’re gaining light quickly. Featured in DSLR Users Only – 3 A Day – Thank you. That’s very encouraging! Whoopee! Sold a mounted print! Thank you! Taken in July 2008 with a Canon EOS 400D and 18-55mm lens / I sat on the floor right next to these beautiful babies. I had a loaf of bread to keep Mother and Father goose content and kept very very still.

I spent several hours in the park getting pictures of the geese. The middle one kept ducking his head down chewing on his feathers..700 pictures later…I finally got this unique shot. I hope you like it!!
