  • This was a spontaneous shot taken at a local Adelaide cafe on Rundle Street East in Kent Town one day when I was out with Dan. It was included in the series ‘When He’s Away’ and was a part of the ‘Living Queer in Adelaide’ group exhibition for the 2006 Feast Arts Festival there (Exibited at the Town Hall) I really like this one – human body against unyielding cement wall and rigid geometric lines. The theme that I was working on with the shots in this series was an analysis and exploration of sexuality – but more specifically gay male sexuality and the universal themes relating to the divide between public and private, acceptibility and unacceptibility, connection and disconnection, and of course human vulnerability / sensitivity and the structures and systems which confine or limit this. • This was taken at Tennyson Beach, Adelaide (South Australia). The model was incredibly patient during the photo shoot with many surprised locals stopping to check out the semi naked “Sailor Boy”. I’d like to thank the model for his strength and his enthusiasm.

  • I’d like to thank the model for his time and patience as a model. I was trying for the look of a sailor washed up on the beach.
