  • Gaultheria hispida, commonly known as the Snow Berry, is a native plant, endemic to Tasmania. / An erect spreading shrub 1-2 metres high, branches and mid-ribs of leaves covered with coarse brown hairs. Leaves shortly stalked., elliptical to lanceolate, pointed, margins serrated. Small urn-shaped white flowers in terminal clusters: stamens 10. Calyx enlarges to form a fleshy white globe around the dry capsular fruit. Flowering November-February. Frequent in rainforest areas and wet eucalypt forests, sea level in west to montane. / Tasmanian endemic.
