The wading birds have pretty well worked out their predator-prey relationships with alligators. Here a Great Egret strolls by the gator. The bird looks like it is trying to be nonchalant as it sneaks by. The gator look like it is glancing up, wondering if dinner is being delivered (but when I blow up the image and zoom in on the gator’s eyes, they appear to be closed.) St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, on Florida’s Panhandle gulf coast. Photographed with Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 (10MP/12x Leica lens).
This photo was taken at Fisheating Creek, Palmdale Florida Fisheating Creek is a wildlife management area. To be able to capture some great photos you must travel by canoe up the 42 mile long creek I have this photo in a Calendar as well. This alligator is about to start feeding on a bunch of little fish. I wish you could hear his jaws snap :)

This is a young gator at Busch Gardens Tampa. Once again I had to take this photo through glass. I have passed up many photos over the years because of glass. Now I take my time to find a spot that has little of no scratches. I don’t worry about the dirt, if I have to I will clean it myself :-) Taken with Nikon d40 at Busch Gardens Tampa, Florida.
Photo of a young gator sunning itself with M O T H E R (a 14 footer) hidden not far away in the tall grasses…she was shy>>> / / /

Keep me out of the sun!!! Gainesville Florida
Alligator with front left leg missing in Canaveral National Seashore. It appeared like the alligator was born without it rather than it being lost in a fight or mis-hap. He was too testy for a closer inspection and Joe had left with the tranquilizer darts! Taken with Pentax K10d and F*300mm f4.5 lens
