  • The Millennium Bridge straddling the Tyne linking Newcastle and Gateshead… With the Baltic Flour Mill (now gallery) in the background…

  • Taken lying on the floor with the lens of the camera sticking through a hole in some wire mesh on a fence. I was forced into looking a bit crazy because I didn’t have my tripod with me.

  • The Angel of the north, the controversial artwork in Gateshead which overlooks the motorway

  • the angel of the north, reworked from an earlier image, i liked the way the people stood around gave the scale of this wonderful piece of art

  • I love the split of tones and colours in this image, almost a good versus evil thing as the red night sky creeps in over the blue tones of the daylight sky further over the horizon.

  • I haven’t been out much lately as my little girl has been poorly (so sorry if i missed some of your work) however, yesterday i NEEDED to get out with my camera and luckily i didn’t have to go too far. This is the iconic Angel of the North – you can see it driving on the A1 – it is such a powerful symbol and awesome to see.

  • The famous Tyne Bridge in Newcastle and the Sage music centre.

  • One of my favorite shots of the sage, loved the way it was reflecting the sunset on the huge expanse curved glass, balanced by the colder hues of the steel surrounding it.

  • Sage, Gateshead, taken Summer 2007

  • The Sage with Newcastle’s Tyne Bridge alongside.

  • For David Parkin / I now love the angel just as much as you and I can totally understand the adoration you have. / I saw the Angel up close for the very first time today and I was dumbstruck. It is believed to be the largest angel sculpture in the world. / It is one of the most viewed pieces of art in the world – seen by more than one person every second, 90,000 every day or 33 million every year. / It is one of the most famous artworks in the region – almost two thirds of people in the North East had already heard of the Angel of the North before it was built. / Its 54 metre (175 foot) wingspan is bigger than a Boeing 757 or 767 jet and almost the same as a Jumbo jet. / It is 20 metres (65 feet) high – the height of a five storey building or four double decker buses. / It weighs 200 tonnes – the body 100 tonnes and the wings 50 tonnes each. / There is enough steel in it to make 16 double decker buses or four Chieftain tanks. / It will last for more than 100 years. / It will withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour. / Below the sculpture, massive concrete piles 20 metres deep will anchor it to the solid rock beneath.

  • The Newcastle and Gateshead Millennium Bridge (UK) with The Sage Music venue and The Tyne Bridge in the background. / This was one of a series of pics I took on first night shoot, I’d only had the camera a week or so and I’m really, really pleased with how this has turned out. Nikon D40x / f7.1 / 8sec / 100iso / 18mm

  • All of the dazzling lights of the NewcastleGateshead Millennium and Tyne Bridges reflected in the natural beauty of the river. Nikon D40x / f5.6 / 4sec / ISO 100 / 55mm

  • OK there are hundreds of these images on here, but i cannot remember seeing one in b/w so here it is !!!!!

  • An uncharacteristically normal shot for me, not a bit of peeling paint or broken window in sight! Taken on a recent wander along the river, this is Newcastle / Gateshead’s Millennium Bridge, known locally to a lot as the blinking eye bridge. The entire structure rotates through 40 degrees when pushed by the three hydraulic rams at each edge, lifting the coloured archway you see here and the walkway slung from it high into the air to allow ships to pass underneath.

  • Another non-dereliction picture from me, dont worry, normal service will be resumed soon :P A picture of arguably the three most famous bridges that span the tyne, namely the Swing Bridge, Tyne Bridge and the Millennium Bridge, from front to back. Also on the right can be seen the top of the Sage, Gateshead, a world renowned concert hall and the Baltic Contemporary Art Gallery can be seen above the centre of the Swing Bridge.

  • This is a shot using the Angel of the North in Gateshead as a backdrop. The rainclouds can be seen in the sky and the wind was blowing strong, hence the blurring caused by the grasses and yet this single seed was about to take to the air on a journey of discovery, well unless it landed in some garden somewhere lol. Image converted into a Holga/film effect

  • Sage centre on the banks of the River Tyne.

  • This is a view down the mighty River Tyne from the swing bridge with it’s old wood jetty pointing down river like some old barge. Like a half remembered ghost of the trade that once and still does flow along this river. The river separates Newcastle and Gateshead and yet such is the relationship between the two sides of the river, there is a wonderful number of bridges connecting the two banks. In front the first bridge is the classic Tyne bridge , with the Gateshead Sage building glistening in the wet light underneath, while beyond lies the modern “winking eye” bridge. This foot and cycle bridge links the redeveloped riverside of Newcastle to the reinvent Baltic Flour Mill, now known for it’s contemporary art shows. • Taken in Newcastle, this is the view from the Newcastle side of the River Tyne towards Gateshead. The building in the centre of the image is the old Baltic Flour Mill and now the Centre for Contemporary Arts with an interesting rotation of “art” works. Converted into a pinhole black and white

  • This is the view up the River Tyne as it flows through Newcastle and Gateshead. A city now as famous for it’s bridges as it’s industrial past, while Gateshead is reinvented as a Art Cultural area. The coming rain storm can really be seen in the sky as the fading light bounces off the Sage. I always consider this as my favourite photograph I ever took.
