Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Quite an amazing place…. / Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. “Forgotten Fields” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An old moss covered timber gate at the corner of a field of grass. “Whenever my journey gets hard to bear / To fields I go to meet You there. / The Holy psalms I shall recount / My horse of courage I shall mount. / My journey through this land gets longer / My hunger for Your home gets stronger. / When hills to climb get only steeper / My love for You gets only deeper. / I shall not stray nor lose my course / With rein in hand, I’ll guide my horse / To fields of good and plenty be / These fields, the ones You promised me / Are void of enemies and grief. / These fields supply me with relief. / I mount my horse, I’m on my way / And in Your fields, My Lord, I’ll stay.” / ~Marie Paradise

I took this shot from the Windsor turf farms today while following a storm which hit about 5 minutes later.. It is an HDR shot and I think HDR was the right choice as it shows details in both the sky and landscape.. / I have always wanted to try and get a storm shot while down at the turf farms because the scene just looks so typically australian to me.. / I decided to include the gate to break up the scene a bit and add something more to view than just turf and the sky.. / Anyway as usual all comments and/or thoughts are welcome.. / Thanks for having a look! The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible in this dense morning fog. From a cliff overlooking the bay, the pillar was visible as well as a misty outline of the San Francisco skyline. Built in 1933, the bridge was completed 5 years later in 1937. It is a part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1, and is the only road to exit San Francisco to the north. A bit of trivia: The suspension bridge is 8,981 feet in length and is 200+ feet above the water. It has a total of approximately 1.2 million rivets holding it together. a glimpse into what we are going through here.. it makes finding these images out in nature worth it.. one set of neighbors(pink house) seem to think that yelling at us and calling us losers..is ok.. in front of my 7 yr old child… ie ..we have the neighbors from hell next door..and are still in the process of leaving this place..hopefully soon..and I would not wish this on anyone…the hell they have put us through.. I just try and show nature at it’s finest and my husband and child and I just am tired of their constant harrasment. I checked and they are not in photo life magazine as a emerging photographer..i am so frustrated…as are my husband and child… note / Many thanks to the Four Police Officers for coming out to see the video and have a chat with our neighbors (pink house)....it has been constant daily harassment from them and Perhaps this will put an end to it..and thank to Nikon for putting the video component into the camera:thumbsup: it has come in handy….have a great weekend.. / Nikon D90
This is Hubbards Hills in Louth, Lincolnshire showing all the colours of autumn. / Hubbard’s Hills is a glacial overspill channel formed as the last ice ended about 40,000 years ago. A marginal lake of meltwater trapped between glacial ice sheet and the Lincolnshire Wolds spilled over a chalk ridge and gouged a steep sided valley with a flat bottom. The river Lud, far too small to create such a valley, now flows through it. Please visit me at my website / / PaulThompsonPhotography Canon 5D Mk2 / F16 / ISO 100
