Even gargoyles probably get the blues.
This is part of the Lamberti church, Munster, Germany
A close-up of the American Eagle style Gargoyls surrounding the top of the Point Bonita lighthouse. Great for a card or small print but I wouldn’t go past that on this shot.
A church in France at sunset
Not a gargoyle in the true sense of the word but must be beautiful when turned on …..
This image is one of the gargoyles ( or dogs ) within the roofing of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo, which is located in Central Victoria.. / . / All images taken with a p&s Panasonic Lumix FZ30 with x2 images in HDR. ========================
This happy fellow can be seen as a pair on the south wall of the church of St.Blaise, built baroque-style in the 18th century, to replace the 1368 original which was damaged in 1667 inan earthquake that rocked the Old Town, but then completely devastated in 1706 in a fire. The current church, which is central to the traditional local Feast day of St.Blaise, was completed in 1715. It stands at the southern end of Stradun, or Placa, an area also referred to as Luza Square. The church facade recently underwent repairs and ramification work, visible in some of my other shots. / St.Blaise is hailed as the patron saint of Dubrovnik, and legends tell how a dream he had one night saved the Old Town many centuries ago from invasion by the Venetians. / Dubrovnik Old Town, has been listed since 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gargoyles have always intrigued me. (They used to startle me as a kid but as I grew older (and older) they actually fascinated and do fascinate me. These two “witches” (that’s what they looked like to me and that’s what the title means) caught my attention as my friend and I were walking towards the Metro in Montréal, Canada. We had just hiked (okay climbed but it was about 3,000 steps!) Mount Royal too so we were quite tired. He didn’t want to stop but I insisted because these two ladies deserved to be photograph. (At least in my opinion.) Camera: Pentax K200D / Exposure Program: Manual / Exposure Time: 1/25 sec / F-Stop: f/4.50 / ISO Speed: 100 / No flash
/ I am so happy I don’t need grotesque things like this in my garden either as ornaments or to give me a false feeling of security. Mind you I would love to see my dog’s reaction if it came face to face with this monstrosity.
Gargoyle scouting out the area…...green with wings and tail.
