Red Tulips..Taken in my mums back garden, i kept the background nice and natural because i think everyone does flower shots with black or white/ plain backgrounds and this makes the image a little different

In the bestiary there’s also a garden. It’s walled off though, so the beasts can’t trample it! I loved painting the undulating fin shapes of this piece, so I had to do another. 15×30cm, watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, iridescent pigments and copper leaf on canvas. A beautiful yellow Lilium hiding in the back of the garden peeking out from the shadows of darkness. Shot with a Canon 400D 18-55 with two stage extension tube.

Just hanging on. Last petal on the poppy holding on against the wind and weather. A bit of trial SC work with this one, attempting to show the beauty of the petal just prior to dropping off into the darkness. Canon 400D Sigma 70-300 macro lens. Photoshop CS3 for Selective Colouring work.

I always think of my Pop when I see poppies. He was an awesome grandparent and loved to make us laugh. One of his tricks was to pretend to eat big fat snails straight out of the garden – horrifying and hilarious to a 5 year old!!
