  • Driving along a back road, I saw this strong adobe wall with this grand entrance. The sky was exceptionally blue and the Purple Sage and Spanish Broom were in full bloom everywhere. So, I couldn’t resist adding those into the painting, reminding me of what a beautiful spring it was. This is an original acrylic painting on canvas.

  • Until recently, this rose had been living in a pot at my boyfriend’s parents property in Emerald. It had never flowered, and when we brought it to our place, it was almost dead. I’m not much of a gardener myself, but he’s managed to get it to flower after a couple of months care. It now has four flowers, and the whole plant looks extremely healthy.

  • Westfield – Nov 2007

  • I was not going to leave the zoo without this image. The beautiful bird, I first saw the outlines of through the man planted flora, gracefully glided across the artificial pond. Its motion cut a gentle trail in the small, evening breeze caused ripples. I set an ambush at the narrow part of the pond and waited patiently. No good. The introverted animal was too edgy when passing by, and emerged in and out of the dark shadows at unpredictable intervals. This was going to be a long haul. Luckily, with the ambient light we both needed running out quickly, my desire to capture the elegant curves of this creature and its routine craving to nibble a bit before the day expired reached an uneasy, but welcomed equilibrium. I held my breath and pushed the button with my cold stiffened finger. Timeless beauty. This is not a great story, just a blurb, with a moral that outweighs its size. The ever relevant message to those who take away your freedom is to realize they will never be able to deprive you of your Dignity, your Grace.

  • 2008 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. This Outdoor Series was created during the time that my Feral Child and Feral Woman were emerging. I had a claustrophobic time being inside anywhere…even my own house. I could only BREATHE outside. So I spent many days and nights outside. I moved my studio outside. I painted outside only. This series of paintings, I am convinced, cannot live indoors because it will choke the life out of them and they will die; so this series is prepared with heavy heavy sealants to live outdoors forever. I place each one very carefully in their “chosen” place. Each must be a compliment in the truest sense of the word to nature. You can never out-create nature. The series can be vibrant and subdued at the same time, depending on its environment. So once each has found their interconnected, noncompetitive place in the landscape, I watch. I enjoy watching these outdoor paintings live their life! How they communicate and play and change with the light, the blooms, the seasons! It is wondrous to witness! Their subtle variations and transformations are always perfectly, proportionately in sync with nature’s doings. Truly awesome! My ART has reached a Nirvana of sort in this context. It feels so right in my soul. Now you know why I must LIVE outdoors and garden and paint! I have never before felt such passion, such joy, and such inspiration! I continue to paint for this series. I will continue to take photographs of these art pieces as they change, as different colored blooms come to surround them. You must see! Thank you for looking and reading about this ongoing process of healing in my life. Please do comment, as I would love to hear how this effects the Beholder. Thank you. Outdoor Art Series Garden Wall (description for context): Grass and dirt in the lower right corner. To the right of this art piece is a large Japanese Cherry Tree which now has buds that will bloom into beautiful bright pink flowers soon. Just above the art is a flowering tree with white flowers. Ground level to the right is green grass with assorted wildflowers and black dirt and pink wild roses ground cover and white flox ground cover. To the left of this piece is a tall white birch and two creamy white rhododendron bushes. In front and to the left slightly of this art/nature scene is our black/coppery outdoor dining table and chairs with basil leaf motif, the shepherd’s hook with (on sale steal) crystal chandelier/candelabra, and natural strung rope hammock! My garden is the PERFECT place for dining and entertaining. Bocce too! Do come see us! I am just so grateful that I can SEE! That my vision returned from blindness, along with my color vision. That I am alive at all! A miracle and a blessing! See the others in the series /

  • Gardener’s cottage, in West Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland. Princes Street Gardens were acquired by the city in 1876 and further landscaped by the City Architect Robert Morham (1839 -1912). Morham also built the Gardener’s cottage in 1886. To the right of the cottage is the semicircle of rectangular standing stones depicting the history of the Royal Scots Regiment. The central stone is inscribed with names of the campaigns in which the Regiment took part and a central bronze plaque shows the insignia of George VI. The memorial was unveiled on 5th August 1952 by HRH Princess Mary, the Colonel in Chief. The final stone was unveiled on 9th of May 2007 by HRH Princess Ann to commemorate the end of the Regiment. Behind the Royal Scots memorial you can see the stately towers of New College on The Mound and to the right of this is The Hub, at the top of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Its gothic spire – the highest point in central Edinburgh – towers over the surrounding buildings, including the adjacent castle. • As it goes… God Created….it ALL!! This is the tiny leaf of a tree, that has just barely leafed out in the spring. So small, yet so beautiful! It IS a leaf, came from it’s TREE… and has all the genetics of a TREE…. Everything is programed by God, to be and to do… what it was programmed to do! Imagine if sin had not come along and spoiled “nature”... As beautiful as it is NOW.. there is NO way to imagine how it looked before the fall of humanity, and sin was brought into the world. Even “creation groans in sin, waiting for it’s redemption”!! Storms, earthquakes, fire… floods! We are all waiting, for our redemption by God when there will be no more storms, evil, sickness, war! All of creation KNOWS their Creator! But the greatest of God’s creations…is MAN!! If a PLANT KNOWS who created it.. HOW, I ask you, can man turn Him down? Go back then, to how we got in this mess… when man was disobedient…and was then separated FROM God. At the same time, the beautiful creation was effected also….and thorns, and thistles and pests appeared. Heretofore, Man tended a beautiful garden, in paradise. NOW, by the sweat of his brow, he works until he is worn down, and worn out. One of the greatest promises is a NEW body, just like the one that Christ has at this moment! It won’t bother me a bit, to get my new body! What a day, “glorious day, that will be”. /
