An attempt at painting an image with my camera :). This shot is also available with a border.
If you look closely (in the “large” view) you’ll notice that some of the black spots are actually ants. Summer 2007 – Rotterdam, NY / One of my girlfriend’s parents purchased a home that was owned by a Master Gardener and neither of them gardened. They asked me to come and tell them what their plants were, thin some out and feel free to photograph them. After a few hours, I had enough plants to fill half my garden and had filled up my photo cards, not to mention I couldn’t help but trim one of their trees while their backs were turned. I’ve only seen this Oriental Tigerlily at this garden and one other – both having been planted by Master Gardeners. I didn’t have the heart to dig any of them up. I had to lay on my back to shoot this as the blooms point downward.

just caught these rain drops hanging off the lilies in my garden / Jesus said / Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that even Solomon in all of his glory did not clothe himself like one of these. But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith? Do not be anxious then, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “With what shall we clothe ourselves?” For all of these things the gentile eagerly seek; for your heavenly father knows that you need of all of these things. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you.

On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. these lotus flowers are huge. the bud is a bit bigger than a baseball, and the open blossom is about the diameter of a basket ball (when fully opened). just had to shoot these two – side by side at various stages in their floral existence! 30”x 40” acrylic on Number 80 Bainbridge Board cold-pressed. I used gesso to cover the beginnings of something I had started a long time ago. I have been working on this off and on for the past couple of weeks…...... between giving time to two grandsons, ten cats, and a dog. First large painting, and first flowers I have done in a while. My inspiration has been all the wonderful florals I have seen on RedBubble! There are so many beautiful paintings and drawings on this site….....all are an inspiration for me to paint and draw again.

A pretty lily from my garden that I had some fun with using different levels and different filters and textures in Photoshop. Couldn’t for the life of me decide which version I preferred, so decided to combine them in an odd and very uncooperative little program I have on here called “Comic Life.” The original image was taken with the Nikon D300 on July 8, 2009. Shutter 1/500, aperture f/11.0, exp -.33, iso 400. Also Available As The Originals: Light: / Medium: / Dark: / texture courtesy of Deviant Art – Princess of Shadows
