3 houses stand together in a row. The one furthest is my grandma’s. She lives alone, beside my granduncles who live with family. The last house belongs to another grandaunt who lives with her domestic helper. Today, we helped my grandma to paint to gate of her home. As she is getting on in age and since it was the school holidays, we decided to go spend some time with her. The only problem was that it is the RAINing season now! So we’d paint… it’d rain.. we’d paint.. it’d drizzle.. we’d paint.. it’d downpour… but the beauty of it is that the paint dried really fast and is waterproof, so it didn’t matter much to us. Besides, my brother brought the camera and we had a great time shooting the many beautiful flowers and plants in her garden – I have added some of these pictures here. For easy reference, they are called ‘Grandma’s _‘ Many of these pictures have a story behind them, so I hope you will enjoy looking through them! Since there are 12 days of Christmas =P, and it’s still new into 2008, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! =)

The Eden Project in Cornwall is, in my opinion, one of the most worthwhile tourist and educational projects in the world. We first went in 2001 when the terraces were first planted and the biodomes were just getting started. At our most recent visit in 2008 we were astounded by the progress of the gardens, the domes and the aims of the project itself. Natural growth, science and art sit side by side in educational splendour awaking the senses and opening the mind to new ideas and ways of living. If you get nothing else out of visit, the breathtaking beauty of the plant life is something that will stay with you for always. The profits from wall art and cards for sale in my Eden Collection will be donated back to the Eden Project to support future generations of beauty and learning.

Thought I’d share some photos I’ve taken and manipulated lately. Photography isn’t really what I’m about but I like images, texture and retouching as a way of keeping my skills up to date and creating fairly quick emotive pieces. / I was mucking around with 40s and 50s hair and make up the other day and wanted to document it. You might notice it’s now my profile picture, I liked it that much! I wish I could look like this every day :P

If you are interested in taking a Sunday walk with your camera, I will be at the Wittunga Botanic Gardens tomorrow (Sunday, 28.June.2009) from midday till late afternoon. The gardens are great for photography of flowers, bees, ducks, magpies, crows, humans, plus many different South African plants that are often mistaken for South Australian. If you are interested, bring your macro lens and lightest-tripod! Meet you near the Rotunda that can be seen near the lake as you enter thru the left entrance. I’ll be wearing a warm woollen beanie (and carrying a blue rain-coat) and wielding a camera! Where? Shepherd’s Hill Road, Blackwood

Many consider gardening to be a pleasant hobby. Watching something you plant rise out of the ground is a wonderful thing, especially when the result is a gorgeous flower that will have neighbors swooning. Take the rose, for example. Seen in varieties of red, yellow, white, and pink, roses have been recognized for thousands of years as one of the most beautiful flowers on the planet. For our purposes, they’re even more attractive. Rose stems sport extremely sharp barbs that draw blood at the slightest prick. Creative gardeners with home security / in mind plant these right under low-lying windows to prevent intrusion. The result is a visually appealing addition to your home’s décor that boosts your home security system / and safety at the same time. Truly a win-win situation.
