I created this design for a friend following the death of her mother. It has become almost a “signature piece” for my work. I have had people take a really close look at it to see if the flowers were real. When I had my work at an outdoor show, even a bee couldn’t make up its mind!

The texture & colour of the background lend this image its name.

The lighting in this image seems to denote an imaginary place of ethereal brightness, hence “FAIRYLAND”.

Taking the original three fresh “Rose of Sharon” flowers that were scanned, and “painting” them on the computer gives a whole new look to the arrangement.

It’s hard to image that this unique design came from three “Rose of Sharon” flowers and some greenery. The new image resembles a patriotic shield or emblem.

This cross collage was created using elements trimmed from photos of roses in my frontyard. Roses are one of my favorite flowers and this piece also reminds me of a beautiful old hymn. One line of the lyrics reads, “I come to the garden alone. While the dew is still on the roses.” Whenever I hear this I always picture a beautiful rose garden where you can sit quietly and listen for the gentle voice of God.. As with all my crosses, the heart at the center represents God’s love.
