Just hanging on. Last petal on the poppy holding on against the wind and weather. A bit of trial SC work with this one, attempting to show the beauty of the petal just prior to dropping off into the darkness. Canon 400D Sigma 70-300 macro lens. Photoshop CS3 for Selective Colouring work.

I thought it looked really good last summer surrounded by red poppies.

A lovely tranquil woodland setting for this rustic bench (at Kailzie gardens, near Peebles in the scottish borders) surrounded by wonderful spring flowers like blue himalayan poppies, pink and bluebells, daisies and yellow celandine… while the nearby stream trickles down through the glade of colourful azaleas…. For a closeup of the blue poppies see himalayan blue taken in my garden (not this one ..lol!))

I couldnt resist capturing these lovely poppy seedheads but then felt they deserved something more… So for the very first time ever (!) a teensy bit of texture.. I always think of my Pop when I see poppies. He was an awesome grandparent and loved to make us laugh. One of his tricks was to pretend to eat big fat snails straight out of the garden – horrifying and hilarious to a 5 year old!!
