This is again, from a drive through the back roads of the Dandenong ranges in Victoria. I was just driving around and stopping to photograph things that caught me eye (I wound up lost too). This is a plot of land behind a farmhouse near Seville.

This beautiful stormy scene presented itself as I was overlooking the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. (If you look closely, you can see the Kissing Camels near the lower right-hand corner.) Hard to imagine it’s in the middle of a huge city. Update 20-June: Exciting news! This photo was chosen to be published in Gaia – The Living Planet, a book compiled of imagery and poetry from within the RB community. I’m so excited to receive my copy in the mail soon!

They just love their hedges in Belgium… Perfectly manicured hedges. I managed to capture this lone gardener on his way through the maze with classic stone wall buildings as his backdrop.

On a visit to the Jardin Botanique in Montreal I was captivated by the Chinese Garden. Various ponds and streams had huge floating islands of lily pads. But it was not until I rested that I discovered these two lily pads and the reflections, just over the side of the bench I was sitting on. Taken in macro mode. “Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” -from the movie Serendipity Featured in the Abstracts From Nature group July 2008.

The Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island, Canada, is one of the world’s premier floral show gardens. Jennie Butchart began to shape this magnificent landscape in 1904. She established, in the style of the grand estates of the period, several distinct gardens to evoke a range of aesthetic experiences. An abandoned limestone quarry was transformed into the dramatic Sunken Garden. More from Butchart Gardens:

Firstly like to thank everyone for looking and commenting, just don’t seem to be getting the time to say thanks , anyway on to the shot now. Shot at Sizergh castle near kendal in Cumbria in the English lake district.. / HDR d A little history on the place now: The core of Sizergh Castle is a 14th century pele tower. The castle was built within the wide band of land which, before the Union of 1603, frequently changed hands between England and Scotland. The tower has walls 9-foot-thick which still reach to 60 feet at the battlements. During Tudor times the castle was extended to the north and west. These wings have fine panelling and decoration. The Great Hall, built in 1450, was altered and decorated between 1558 and 1575. Some further changes were made during the late 18th century and the castle reflects the period of prosperty during Tudor times. The panelling of the Inlaid Chamber was sold to the Victoria and Albert museum in 1891. However, the museum has loaned back two panels together with the inlaid bed which was made to match the room. The castle contains English and French furniture, silver and china and family portraits. There is also a collection of Stuart portraits and Stuart and Jacobite relics. In 1239 the castle passed by marriage into the hands of the Strickland family. Unfortunately no photography was allowed inside, I could have had a beano in there with my camera…

The information says: “Built in 1910, the Pigeon Tower was an elaborate summerhouse and lookout with three storeys linked by a stone spiral staircase. Ornamental doves and pigeons were kept in adjacent dove cotes and lofts, whilst the Pigeon Tower was reputedly used by Lady Lever for a sewing room. / Extensive repair works have been undertaken to this building including the replacements of the floors in 1974 and in 2005 it was completely re-roofed.” / It is a fantastic place to visit!
