Outside the greenhouse of Gerberas I found these magnificent Gerberas thrown away. I’m not sure if because of overabundance, ..or maybe it used to enrich the ground later, ” to feed ” future Gerberas. My evaluation is that 0.000001 part of the field is thrown away. The beautifully restored greehouses at the Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Yorkshire UK. The Gardens first opened in 1836 with these glass pavilions (greehouses) built some time after. The gardens were in some decline before the whol garden was restored from 1997-2003 and this building was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on 1 September 2003. When we moved into our present house, this greenhouse was already standing in our back garden, with the back part of the garden over grown in weeds, but with the setting sun, it really brought the whole garden to life. A new addtion to the Still Life series, “Still Life with Old Dandelion Stencil and Terracotta Pots” pays tribute to the lovely art of stenciling that experienced a resurgence in the 80s then got overexposed and trite…well know in Europe for centuries, in North America itinerant stencillors made a good living going from town to town with their tools…evidence of their beautiful work still remains today and is shown in museums around the world... / I chose to infuse this painting with the flavour of an old garden room, where the plaster has fallen off and the single stencil though greatly worn with age still looks beautiful…the terracotta pots which are so delightful to paint, add to the feeling of age…I have a number of these ancient pots, and though they are still under wraps right now, I know them so well I think I can reproduce them in my sleep...
