This is image is part of a series called Recycled. I used a flat bed scanner to make images of objects and materials we regularly dispose of. Artist Statement Pollution, global warming, excess and abuse are all topics that we deal with daily. I am very concerned with these issues at moments and yet, as the rest of my culture, I tend to look away or excuse myself from the responsibility of dealing with them. In this project I seek to materialize this process of ignorance or neglect. / Often times we see these detrimental issues as things to make news and conversation over, not things that we need to invest in or make changes to. We find ways to make money from the negative actions we have already committed rather than making effective, global changes. / In a way, I carry out this same process in my images. I turn something used into something new and beautiful. I compose trash into an image that we want to look at and admire rather than feel embarrassed or ashamed of. / My images are meant to be pleasing to the eye. They are new visions of everyday objects. However, they ARE trash. This creates tension. Something that is supposed to be thrown away and hidden so no one has to look at it is displayed in a positive light and very large so that you want to admire it. It is this confusion and contrast that I want my viewers to experience.
Standing proudly by the mirror / and waiting for her pants to rise… / Around I turned to see her true, / unreflected and comfortable. “Unsex me” she said, but I knew it was Shakespeare. / And we had just made connection… / As the male in these dances of paramour lust, / I needed about ten minutes. Her denim blue eyes and mine dead-locked. / The look towards her insides with a smile cocked made her crack, / - she laughed. We matched so well… bound in the same godly veneer / Glistening with sweat as she headed out the stall… / The evidence could be no clearer. But she simply shut the stall with her light finger tips, / while I shook my red hair in an act of deific deign, She was still weak, / my breaths were yet back to steady. / / “Worth it?” she said, smacking my posterior. / We late for class, in wrinkled clothing, both failing History. / I nodded my head in response, just as the mens’ room door opened / - Just in time to avoid ‘caught in the act’ I was sure and cocky, I but lacking her sheer nerve to strut. / while glancing back at the door slamming behind me… Not as clean a surface to sidle upon, / but Girls’ rooms are busy, / and Tina was brave. *Yep, Tina (above) was my first girlfriend… well, unless you count HER girlfriend at the time as partially mine. Anyway, I was gay, so it worked out. *

A macro of a the top of a garbage can,all rusty… :)) The whole is almost 2 inches wide,I guess they have to do it that way so the racoons can’t open the top of the can…I think you have to put your fingers in the whole to lift up the top…. :))...not sure though…
A North American expression used to describe a snow condition where visibility is so poor we cannot see anything beyond a short distance. / Totally appropriate today during a snowstorm… / I was only outside the car about 10 minutes to get a few shots, but by then my hands had turned into blocks of ice and were tingling. The wind was brutally cold. Needless to say after a few important errands we retired to the comfort of our warm home and did not venture out again. / A lovely area in other seasons, this bench is on a small hill overlooking the Lake of Two Mountains, the distant shore, and the neighboring town of St-Eustache, Quebec CANADA Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens Featured in the Benches group, December 21st 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting Group December 24th 2008 / The Fine Art of Photography

oil and acrylic on canvas. used photo as reference. People who look for something in the garbage to sell to being able to maintain their family, they look for, metal, plastic bottles, or any thing that is reusable, this scene is very common in many places of Latin America, I was witness the last time I was in my country. / 205 Views / C1369-F66BB-C6C45 /
2009. B/W film, as is. A man, who had been searching garbage bins along a street in a commercial center, approached another man who was trying to find something of value in a bin. The first man took a clean bran-new cigarette from his pocket and gave it to the other man. The neat white cigarette almost shone in the darkness. The second man, looking at it, “Where did you find it?” He asked with surprise. “Someone gave it to me.” The man said. He left quickly, probably heading to another bin. The proceeds from this item will be donated to Farestart.

Went on a little stroll around the city today to shoot a couple of laneways with Flamegirl for Laneway Magazine who requested some shots of this little spot. This is the same lane as shot in my Hosier Lane but up the other end facing the other way :D I’ve been using HDR sparingly lately but it helps to bring out so much character in these laneways that I simply can’t resist. This is also one of my first goes experimenting with the square format too! / Settings Canon 5D, 17-40mm f4 L USM.
