TO TAKE THE PISS / To take the piss is a British slang expression meaning to mock, tease, ridicule or scoff. Take the mickey (or variations) are euphemistic ways of conveying this expression where the word “piss” may be vulgar. / The term sometimes refers to a form of mockery or a piss take in which the mocker exaggerates the other person’s characteristics; pretending to take on his or her attitudes, etc., in order to make them look funny. / The phrase is in common usage throughout English society, employed by headline writers in broadsheet gazettes and tabloids as well as colloquially and is also used in English speaking countries such as Australia. Oil on canvas. Actual artwork is 38 by 22 inches. I’m fortunate enough to live in one of the ever growing number of states that have at least had the courage to once again embrace it’s medicinal use. I thought I was “endowed by my creator…with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. So, when did the last two become expendable?

Cannabis grows in a hilltribe opium poppy field in northern Thailand. The Mien farmers don’t smoke their crop – they grow it for the Thai market. Together in the same field, I spotted tobacco plants and coffee.

by John SpiesThere were dozens of fields with cannabis and opium poppy, and the villagers houses were stacked with sticky ganja buds. The Mien hilltribe farmers sold it for $4 a kilo…before they were busted. Northern Thailand, early 1980s.
