“Open for Business” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An art gallery at the historic town of Silverton in outback New South Wales, Australia. “History with its flickering lamp stumbles along the trail of the past, trying to reconstruct its scenes, to revive its echoes, and kindle with pale gleams the passion of former days.” ~Winston Churchill Competition: Top Ten placement of the Outback Australia group.

It’s amazing how many posters can be stuck to a telephone pole. you would never know it until you cut away a square section and paint a red dot on it. / “dot” was featured in the group Textures. “Dot” was featured in The Feature Fraternity
This photo was taken at the National Gallery of Victoria on St. Kilda Rd, Melbourne. There was a girl resting on one of the concrete slabs. Highlighting her was what I wanted to achieve in this image. The large black area in this is the archway entrance and reflection to the building.
I was walking around the neighborhood last fall, looking for something to image when i came across this scene. The chair that was placed near some trash bins by a long abandoned government building. The light was just right and the texture of the scene really grabbed me. / “Alone” was featured in the group Rusty, Crusty and Falli… / “Alone” was featured in the group Live, Love, Dream / “Alone” was featured in Still Life Photography
I think this image is something of an optical illusion. to me, it appears to bulge out, even though it’s concave. you decide.
This is not an HDR photo.
This image was the Monochrome challenge winner in the West Virginia group challenge on March 16, 2009. On March 16, 2009 this image was featured in the West Virginia group. On July 12, 2009 this image was featured in The Heartland group. The Brinegar Cabin at Milepost 258 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in West Virginia. The Brinegar Cabin is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This cabin was originally settled by Martin Brinegar in 1885. His wife, Caroline, brought along her mother’s four-poster weaving loom, which is still located on the site. The Brinegars occupied the cabin until 1935 when the land was purchased for construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin was preserved, along with Mrs. Brinegar’s 100+ year old loom which is used for craft and weaving demonstrations during the summer months. Guided nature walks and discussions, led by park rangers, are also available. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image. Playing with your food can be very enjoyable. I highly recommend it. Fruit and veggies are mother natures mysteries and, hopefully, i captured a bit of that.

It’s true that you can find inspiration almost everywhere. I found these in dollar store along with a couple of foam whiteboards. I shot this with natural light using the whiteboards to direct some of it for dramatic effect. Featured in Domestic Art – Home Is Where the Art Is

I visited the Norman Lindsay Gallery yesterday & have come away feeling so inspired. / A beautiful gallery in the Blue mountains, where you can wander amongst the grounds, surrounded by Lindsay’s statues, sit in the gallery as you gaze in awe upon his paintings, or marvel at the detail in his etchings…... I won’t even mention his wonderful children’s stories or his model ships (just a hobby of his apparently)....... This Magnolia was blooming in the garden behind his studio. / Magnolias & Norman Lindsay….... my life is good…... [canon 1000D, tamron 18-200mm]
