Painted in my Byron Bay art gallery / studio. / This painting is one in my series on dance and movement. In this series I study, which lines and colors, within a persons movement, define the soul of a person, to find the answer I worked for several weeks with one model. / We did four photo-shoots, over 2500 photos, hours of organization, observation and dialog, one video-shoot and over a 100 sketches. This resulted into a series I call: The Narrative of Motion. The series contain powerful mysterious poses, It feels like the spirit is pushed out of the physical cage of the body.

There has been one sale of this image. In November 2008 this image was featured in the group, Buyers R Us. In February 2009, this image placed third in the U.S. Parks Wildlife Shots challenge hosted by the AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat group. A thousand Yellowstone wonders are calling, ‘Look up and down and round about you! John Muir – 1898 The temperatures were in the single digits on this cold, snowy January morning at West Thumb Geyser Basin, which is one of the smallest geyser basins in Yellowstone. A incredibly scenic area along the shore of Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb only has a small amount of geyser activity. However, the basin more than makes up for it with its diversity. Despite its small size, it has paint/mud pots, hot springs, pools, lake shore geysers, and fumaroles. Fumaroles are small openings that release steam and other gasses. You can see in the foreground the muddy, soupy waters inundating the paint pots. The white area beyond the tree line in the right hand side of the photograph is Yellowstone Lake. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image. I was walking around the neighborhood last fall, looking for something to image when i came across this scene. The chair that was placed near some trash bins by a long abandoned government building. This was done at an art gallery called Art Garden in Okayama, Japan. An installation that was technically never installed. Performance art that was witnessed by no one so was it even performed? One could argue that neither ever took place. Good thing I was able to capture the evidence of its non-existence with my camera…. I had an opportunity to use the gallery space for some photos. Given the setting I wanted to create something that looked like a physical installation. This “structure” was drawn by me and my cohort and recorded by my camera. It is completely made of light and nothing else. It was gone the instant it was created. This image is straight from the camera. No photoshop was used nor any post editing of any kind was done. It was created using the light painting method. Numerous hand held flashes were strategically fired around the room to illuminate the space. A picture of the space during the day is visible here Camera: Canon EOS 40D / Exposure: 123 / Aperture: f/7.1 / Focal Length: 17 mm / ISO Speed: 100 This has to be one of my favorites art projects I have ever done… I had an A4 size printed of this and it looks incredible.
