I’ve heard your whisper and I’ve seen. / Haunting keen from pipes doth pierce
Well pretty self explanatory. Another piece I wrote for my homeland, and my clan. Can you tell I am proud? LOL / This one, like “The Highlander” has some Gaelic that needs explaning. Alba: Gaelic name for Scotland. “Tulach Ard” : Pronounced (Too-lache Aart) with the “ch” being soft as in German “ich.” It’s my clan’s war cry. (MacKenzie) Ceilidh: Pronounced (Kay-lee) is a gathering of music, dance and entertainment. Mo Charaid: Pronounced ( Mo Ha-rij ) Means “My friend.” Luceo Non Uro: Is latin, pronounced (Loo-cheh-oh non oo-roh) Is my clan’s motto, it means “I shine, not burn.”

This is a special poem I wrote for one of my best friends, for her wedding. It borrows heavily from traditional, Romantic era poetry and even includes a few verses that are based on an old Irish blessing. The finished product of this consisted of my printing it out; burning the edges of the paper with a lighter, thus giving it an “old” feeling; and framing it. The title means “fortress of affection” in Irish Gaelic. At least, that is what I hope it means; otherwise, I’ve been a total dolt.
