The old millpond at the village of Stoke Gabriel cascades into the adjoining River Dart in Devon. I had been walking up the river bank on a beautiful day in April and sat down at the end of the dam with the dappled sunlight playing through the overhead trees. I got to thinking how nicely the branches framed the skyline on the village with it’s ancient 15th century parish church on the skyline, so decided to take a few images. GABRIELLE WRESTLES THE DEVIL / Acrylic Glazing on gesso ed Masonite I realized as I struggled to depict the angelic forces fighting for our good that I erroneously kept wanting to use OUR physical bodies to represent the confrontations…..so I got still and asked to be shown….HELLO…, / Of coarse!Their bodies are fluid in form.I then understood why it was critical they maintain the highest of thoughts in principals…because when in battle the two bodies become like one at the 1st level…and the onslaught is fierce…the attempt is of the dark forces to erode to the molecular level and “overtake”..hence,I got the importance of the encouragement to ’’Armor’’ our-selves daily and protect our thoughts and words. My sense of the fighting with Dark Forces/(devil) is it is like ’’friction’‘(opposition) which would feel hot, like getting burned(sun burns or flames).Sure would feel ’’like hell’’..... / I actually set out to paint bubbles,(really!),but this kept spinning out and I had to listen to the painting and follow where it wanted to go….. Fever pitched, I painted 24+ hours non-stop until completing and naming it.I didn’t understand what the message could be…then, / With in 2 days we had the tsunami disaster.

This is the trademark for San Gabriele’s Horn, located in Georgetown, Tx. I went to visit a friend and do some promotion shots of the place he’s restored. He’s done an outstanding job on the place. / If you go to his website, and check out photos under demolition, you can see what this beautiful place looked like before he put his tender loving touch to it. / I had a great time visiting him in Texas, and shooting the accomplishments he’s made with the place. / As of right now he is incorporating some of the shots I shot into his website. / So if you’re ever in Texas and around Austin/Georgetown and need a place to stay, this place offers one of the best sunsets in Texas to shoot. You have a deck high above the trees to shoot from. / I’d have to say, this shot is one of the fav’s of mine that I shot of his place.
He has the face and the name of an angel . . . Guess I’m feeling a little melancholy that I wasn’t able to see my grandson on Christmas Day so I’m looking at a picture I took of him at Thanksgiving time and remembering the good times we had then. Still, I’m joyous that we both had a wonderful Christmas Day and that we tried to bridge the 600 mile gap between us with words exchanged by phone. Merry Christmas, my sweet boy. I love you more than words can express. Your Mammy P.S. I just got an email from my daughter who sent a photo of my grandson’s note to Santa. She said he spent a long time on Christmas Eve cutting out tracings of his hand and when he finally got the one he liked, he glittered the paper hand, added it to the plate of cookies and milk for St. Nick, and then dictated the message he wanted to leave: “Dear Santa, It doesn’t matter how many toys you leave for me or Mommy or Daddy. I know you are busy with the other children so I just wanted to give you my hand.” Blessed are the pure of heart . . . who reach out with a helping hand!
