Our gorgeous simaese, Tolly, again. Along with his kidney problems he has quite bad arthritis which you can see here in his poor, little bent ankle. The way he positions his feet when standing remined me very much of a ballet dancer in 5th position.

Nikon D300/18-200 Lens / The total wild population of the snow leopard is estimated at between 4,000 and 7,500 individuals. In 1972 the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, (IUCN) placed the snow leopard on its Red List of Threatened Species as “Endangered,” the same classification given the panda and the tiger. / There are also 600-700 snow leopards in zoos around the world. There are numerous agencies working to conserve the snow leopard and its threatened mountain ecosystems. These include the Snow Leopard Trust, the Snow Leopard Conservancy and the Snow Leopard Network. These groups and numerous snow leopard range country governments, non-profits and donors from around the world recently worked together at the 10th International Snow Leopard Conference in Beijing. The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! (Spitsbergen – Scandinavian Arctic) / /
