  • I found two funeral directors shops on the side of the street beside the entrance to Ghencia Cemetery in Bucuresti. I would have thought that by the time one reached that point (i.e. the cemetery entrance) one would already be coffined!!

Dear all. The gift we would like to create in memory of Axel Moore, and in support of the family of a large canvas print of this photo / / taken by Bill Fonseca can now be made. thank you all for your generosity. It is warmly received. Redbubble will contact people individually and facilitate through paypal. / ___________ update 31.12.07 Paypal donations. There are a number of unexpected expenses the family has incurred due to the event, such as the Careflight helicopter coming out, and time off work. These things put an added pressure on a family at times such as these. I have looked into paypal, and it seems it is easy to do if you have the email address, which is family@origoblue.com.au and sign up to paypal here All ways of contributing to the family are greatly appreciated, and really make a difference to their lives. It is a really positive way to help someone when you’re not sure ‘what you can do”-here another way. Thank you all for your generosity. ____________ Nothing will bring Axel back, however, the memory of the community support is the glue that binds us to this earth and each other. The ceremony today was an inspiration to the human spirit. It was touching, it was real and the love people offer just by their presence, I’m sure will help console the family in the smallest of ways in this huge time of change. I know so many people would like to do something ‘real’ to help. If this is you, please feel free to contribute in this way now. kind regards to all. xsunset

  • Unfortunatly 2007 was the year of funerals for me… / / On one of the trips to church I was given a lucky shot of a young girl sitting in the seat where the priest is meant to sing (its a Greek Orthodox Church), just reading away.. / I just love this shot. it really shows life is ever on-going and the total beauty of innocence… THe photo was taken with me on the balcony above…. zooooooooming in. / :)

  • Here is our absolute favorite statue. It is a powerful reminder that even the strong sometimes face sorrow and that comfort can be found in the most unlikely places, such as in a little girl’s touch. This photo was shot by my daughter, with the help of a very accommodating friend from her 4-H club.

  • O love that wilt not let me go, / I rest my weary soul in Thee, / I give Thee back the life I owe, / that in Thine ocean’s depths it’s flow, / may richer fuller be. This is a verse from an old favourite Hymn of mine; it speaks about submitting our souls to the Creator God who made us, trusting in Him with our eternity and whole being. It has helped many people that I know who’ve been going through a really tough time in life, and sometimes even in the face of death these words speak a deeper truth, that ultimately we’ll all one day come face to face with our maker. This image could be used as a card to a loved one who’s suffered the loss of someone close to them. It helps people to acknowledge a deep love for them and yet the ability to leave their beloved in the hands of a loving God. Hymn: O Love that wilt not let me go. by George Matheson. / O Love that wilt not let me go, / I rest my weary soul in thee; / I give thee back the life I owe, / That in thine ocean depths its flow / May richer, fuller be. O light that followest all my way, / I yield my flickering torch to thee; / My heart restores its borrowed ray, / That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day / May brighter, fairer be. O Joy that seekest me through pain, / I cannot close my heart to thee; / I trace the rainbow through the rain, / And feel the promise is not vain, / That morn shall tearless be. O Cross that liftest up my head, / I dare not ask to fly from thee; / I lay in dust life’s glory dead, / And from the ground there blossoms red / Life that shall endless be. Matheson said about the hymn: My hymn was composed in the manse of Innelan [Argyleshire, Scotland] on the evening of the 6th of June, 1882, when I was 40 years of age. I was alone in the manse at that time. It was the night of my sister’s marriage, and the rest of the family were staying overnight in Glasgow. Something happened to me, which was known only to myself, and which caused me the most severe mental suffering. The hymn was the fruit of that suffering. It was the quickest bit of work I ever did in my life. I had the impression of having it dictated to me by some inward voice rather than of working it out myself. I am quite sure that the whole work was completed in five minutes, and equally sure that it never received at my hands any retouching or correction. I have no natural gift of rhythm. All the other verses I have ever written are manufactured articles; this came like a dayspring from on high. Hope you’ll find comfort in this image and these lovely words. Don.

  • This is a photo from my grandfathers memorial service Dec 7th 2008 at the USS Utah in Pearl Harbor. This was the finish of the 21 gun salute. It was a very moving event. I want to commend the men and women in the Navy that played a part in putting this together. • ...Ancient Egyptian civilisation was based on religion; their belief in the rebirth after death became their driving force behind their funeral practices. Death was simply a temporary interruption, rather than complete cessation, of life, and that eternal life could be ensured by means like piety to the gods, preservation of the physical form through Mummification, and the provision of statuary and other funerary equipment. ... Egyptians also believed that being mummified was the only way to have an afterlife. Only if the corpse had been properly embalmed and entombed in a mastaba, could the dead live again in the Fields of Yalu and accompany the Sun on its daily ride. ... ~ Source info here
