  • Hi everyone. This is my first attempt to try a low key, almost seamless backdrop without using photoshop to burn the background. I am pleased that the backdrop turned out the way it did. I used black material and had him about 4 feet from the backdrop. Canon 40D, 70-200 L Lens, 2 softbox, one on each side. Update: Jake’s Bath Time Fun was featured (10.19.08) in the Group The Beginners’ Corner Thanks so much to Angi and the group. Much appreciated!! I know this is not an original type of pose/props, but I wanted some feedback/critique on this please. More for lighting and setup. I used 2 large softboxes, one to the right (my right) and one in center above my camera. If you notice the catch-lights in his eyes seem to high, so I think I needed to lower the lights down as I did have them higher than him. Also, I forgot to use a plexi to reflect the bubbles and know they look a bit “fake”. Thanks in advance!! Check out more of Jake here and his sister Kaylie here

  • Pretty simple concept here, it’s a calendar of some of my favorite work. Plus, you get a giant self portrait of myself on the cover! (Proving once again that my vanity knows no bounds.) How could you possibly resist something with the words “Googely Mooglies” printed on the cover? You couldn’t – you shouldn’t.

  • A4 plain paper with marker pens, coloured pencils and paints. /

  • I took a few photos in the pool today and this was by favourite. Taken with a canon IXUS900Ti, shutter 1/200, aperture f/2.8, focal length 7.7 mm. I really love the texture from the water along with the bubbles. No cropping. Hope you like it too.

The Rottweiler, or Rottweil Metzgerhund (“Butchers Dog”), is a “medium to large size, stalwart dog” breed originating in Germany as a herding dog. It is a hardy and very intelligent breed. Rottweilers also worked as draught dogs, pulling carts to carry meat and other products to market. “Rottweiler breeders aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.” The Rottweiler was kept busy in these traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. Although there are still Rottweilers working stock all over the world, many other roles have been found for this versatile breed. During the first and second World Wars, Rottweilers were put into service in various roles including as messenger, draught and guard dogs. Currently they are often used as search and rescue, assistance, guide dogs for the blind, guard and police dogs in addition to their traditional roles. Although an extremely versatile breed used in recent times for many other purposes, the Rottweiler is first and foremost one of the oldest, if not the oldest, of herding breeds. A multi-faceted herding and stock protection dog of exceptional ability, it is capable of working all kinds of livestock under a wide variety of conditions. The breed is an ancient one, whose history stretches back to the Roman Empire. In those times, the legions traveled with their meat on the hoof and required the assistance of working dogs to herd the cattle. One route the army traveled was through Württemberg and on to the small market town of Rottweil. The principal ancestors of the first Rottweilers during this time was supposed to be the Roman droving dog, local dogs the army met on its travels, and dogs with molosser appearance coming from England and The Netherlands. This region eventually became an important cattle area, and the descendants of the Roman cattle dogs proved their worth in both driving and protecting the cattle from robbers and wild animals. However, by the end of the 19th century as railroads became the main method for moving stock to market, the breed had declined so much that in 1900 there was only one female to be found in the town of Rottweil.

  • Clover is more experienced outside than Bonnie was..he lets me walk him like a dog on a leash! :D

  • actually they are holi faces Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, is a popular Hindu spring festival observed in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and countries with large Hindu diaspora populations, such as Suriname, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad, the UK, Mauritius, and Fiji. Holi is celebrated by people throwing colored powder and colored water at each other. Bonfires are lit the day before, also known as Holika Dahan (death of Holika) or Chhoti Holi (little Holi). The bonfires are lit in memory of the miraculous escape that young Prahlad had when Demoness Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, carried him into the fire. Holika was burnt but Prahlad, a staunch devotee of god Vishnu, escaped without any injuries due to his unshakable devotion. Source – Wikipedia
