  • Disability refers to the social effects of physical, emotional or mental impairment. The real issue is the societal response to disability. If a community allows physical, architectural, transportation, and other barriers to remain in place, society is creating handicaps that oppress individuals with disabilities. If, on the other hand, a community removes those barriers, persons with disabilities can function at much higher levels. The disability rights movement, led by end-users rather than families and other carers, began in the 1970s. This self-advocacy is largely responsible for the shift toward independent living and accessibility.

  • A tractor is a vehicle specifically designed to deliver a high tractive effort at slow speeds, for the purposes of hauling a trailer or machinery used in agriculture or construction. Most commonly, the term is used to describe the distinctive farm vehicle: agricultural implements may be towed behind or mounted on the tractor, and the tractor may also provide a source of power if the implement is mechanised. Another common use of the term is for the power unit of a semi-trailer truck.(wikipedia.org)

  • Parking is the act of stopping a vehicle and leaving it unoccupied for more than a brief time. It is against the law virtually everywhere to park a vehicle in the middle of a highway or road; parking on one or both sides of a road, however, is commonly permitted. Parking facilities are constructed in combination with most buildings, to facilitate the coming and going of the buildings’ users. A Disabled Person’s Parking Permit, otherwise known as a ‘Blue Badge’, ‘disabled parking permit’, ‘handicapped permit’, or ‘disabled badge’ is a permit that can be displayed in a vehicle carrying a person whose mobility would be otherwise significantly impaired by one or more of age, illness, disability or infirmity. The permit allows partial or total exemption from charges or penalties associated with the parking of a motor vehicle used by a badge-holder, and shows entitlement to use of dedicated parking bays and off-street parking (where they are provided). The concession extends in some places to partial or total exemption from tolls or general prohibitions on where a vehicle can be driven. Since 2000, all general disabled parking permits in the European Union (EU) have been standardised to a common style and blue colour, leading to the officially-used designation ‘Blue Badge’. A Blue Badge issued in one country of the EU is generally given equal recognition in others with various exceptions as described for the countries below. (wikipedia.org)

  • Paraplegia is an impairment in motor and/or sensory function of the lower extremities. It is usually the result of spinal cord injury or a congenital condition such as spina bifida which affects the neural elements of the spinal canal. The area of the spinal canal which is affected in paraplegia is either the thoracic, lumbar, or sacral regions. If the arms are also affected by paralysis, tetraplegia is the proper terminology.Help us raise awareness in society about persons with disabilities, their rights, their needs, their potential and their contribution and promote disability awareness and human rights of disabled people.

  • An amusement park provides the basis of this whimsical image. This particular shot is one of my more popular prints and a personal favorite. For me, it captures the feeling of going to a carnival. This particular shot is from Chicago’s Navy Pier.

  • Happy family. Captured May 2009, London. / Taken into Photoshop, applied experimental filters and colour settings, to make the light look slightly unrealistic, but instead enhancing the roller blades, creating an even more vivid pink. Also available as prints etc.:

  • I shot this image at Luna Park in Sydney on a beautiful clear sunny day. The colours were rich & vibrant….. so I turned it all dark & grungy!!! / I always liked my print version of this, & thought it’d work on a Tee.
