Cold Poem / Cold now. / Close to the edge. Almost / unbearable. Clouds / bunch up and boil down / from the north of the white bear. / This tree-splitting morning / I dream of his fat tracks, / the lifesaving suet. I think of summer with its luminous fruit, / blossoms rounding to berries, leaves, / handfuls of grain. Maybe what cold is, is the time / we measure the love we have always had, secretly, / for our own bones, the hard knife-edged love / for the warm river of the I, beyond all else; maybe that is what it means the beauty / of the blue shark cruising toward the tumbling seals. In the season of snow, / in the immeasurable cold, / we grow cruel but honest; we keep / ourselves alive, / if we can, taking one after another / the necessary bodies of others, the many / crushed red flowers. On our drive up to Polipoli this morning we stopped along the way to watch the paragliders, as I stepped out of our truck this vehicle was driving by with two adorable Shelties barking happily like small children thrilled to be outdoors on a beautiful rain soaked morning on Maui. I love the look of this candid shot, especially the brilliant blue sky and clouds reflected in the window. I wanted to try my strobe through a shoot through outside this cool looking mini brick wall with grass around. I just love these pictures of her! Sorry guys, I will probably upload a few of her from this session. It’s actually been awhile since you’ve seen some new stuff of Kaylie, the DIVA! She is 5 years old now and as sassy as ever! The forest here is untouched from the camera taken in early Fall, October 11, 2009. The leaves in this area were just starting to change. Each creature was brought in by previous captures, and by just taking segments, and then scaled down where they existed from shots I’d taken over several years, the birds being the last captures shown year, is the result. I just had to do this one to show the many creatures seen in the wonderful state of NH – you don’t always get to see them all at once, like this, but there are days when they are really “there”.. and you just have to look a little bit closer.. 98% of the creatures here have their eye on you… Taken in Rumney, NH – a wonderful and quiet town sporting Stinson Mt to which this trail leads up up up to! It truly is a wonderful world and, like a lot of people say, – this is God’s country!
