  • Scratched negatives, cross processing, accidental double exposures. These are the magic and spontaneity of using film. The little mistakes or slips that create unique works of art. In this digital age, where do we find such wonderful mistakes? Recently James took this photo of me jumping around on the beach. The memory card corrupted and we were left with a strange hot pink band across most of the image. My first reaction was “what a shame” but I quickly fell in love with it and had a play. Probably because it stood out from the 50 other ‘perfectly good’ images. a collaboration / taken at Portsea

  • This photograph marks a key turning point in my photography! I have now realised that I was simply trying to hard. I was striving for perfection, not creativity. Vogue, not fun shot. So from now on, I think you’ll see a whole new side of me! I’m not sure where the idea came from. I was just kinda wondering what it would be like to drown in cornflakes… / I had much fun doing this & discovered a) its possible to inhale cornflakes. And kind of painful… b) Putting a whole box of cornflakes in your bed makes for uncomfortable sleeping, even when you THINK you’ve got rid of every last crumb… Self portrait under constant studio lighting. Camera handheld at a funny angle… :) Canon 450D / (Face shot:) / F-stop: 4.5 / Exposure time: 1/20sec. / ISO-speed: 800 / Focal length: 33mm Edited on PS CS3!
