Recently we did a test shoot for two really funny and crazy guys who also happen to make music together, Jase and Tom after their manager aeris saw my stuff on RedBubble and decided I am shit hot at what I do. (I’m working on the modesty bit, I swear.) Anyway they really really didn’t want to do a photo shoot in a smelly, public, and damp mens’ toilet so naturally I nagged at them until they relented. Then the first thing their manager said upon viewing this image was “That one’s for RedBubble!” So here it is.

Saturday night was a very still warm night. Went out onto my favorite rockland armed with a bottle of red wine… a packet of chips and some light painting tools. This shot was my first serious effort at light painting… I have probably spent 2 months testing different lights to understand the quality of the light. This was the first time I have used them in anger. What was interesting about this shot is that I had totally previsualised it. I knew exactly the shot I wanted to capture and the end result is pretty close to what was in my mind for about 6 weeks. Enjoy / Brent

I recently got an intuos tablet. / This is the first “real” thing I’ve created while using it. / Other then this I’ve just been scribbling and trying to get used to using it. / I’m pretty excited about it!

This photograph marks a key turning point in my photography! I have now realised that I was simply trying to hard. I was striving for perfection, not creativity. Vogue, not fun shot. So from now on, I think you’ll see a whole new side of me! I’m not sure where the idea came from. I was just kinda wondering what it would be like to drown in cornflakes… / I had much fun doing this & discovered a) its possible to inhale cornflakes. And kind of painful… b) Putting a whole box of cornflakes in your bed makes for uncomfortable sleeping, even when you THINK you’ve got rid of every last crumb… Self portrait under constant studio lighting. Yes, I did actually manage to read all 4 massive books in the ‘Twilight’ series while my computer was ‘sick’. So – for a bit of ‘light relief’ – my take on the traditional ‘vampire’. I know this one doesn’t actually ‘match’ any of the wonderful vampire characters in ‘Twilight’ (by Stephanie Meyer) – the only vampire there with flaming red hair definitely comes across as a ‘bad guy’ – not one willing or able to join the good, ‘vegetarian vampire coven’ that the story is based around. / But – I just couldn’t see myself creating an image of something with fangs and a lot of fake blood – so bright red hair has to substitute. A ‘vampire’ maybe not willing or able to clearly show him or herself as she is to the outside non-supernatural world? A composite image created from many of my own photographs.
