Hi Bubblers, Been away for a few days and thought I would upload an image that was put together late one night. What I was after was a title for the image and have been struggling to come up with something and therefore not put up the image. needs a title, weird image thing I would love any suggestions for the strange image that was great fun to make. There are some weird images inside the weird image or that just might be me looking at it for too long, lol. Thanks in advance for any suggestions people of the bubble universe. Bubble Up! There are some really cool people here on this site. I probably say that far too often… but hey, journals are for one’s own thoughts! I can’t help it… I just haven’t ran across any meanspirited or rude people yet, just nice helpful ones like Peter and others. The staff must be doing a good job to have such a wonderful place to converse, display your work, and just have fun!! Ms. German’s writings of far off places are so vivid, that you can imagine actually being there. My opinion of the art of photography has taken the proverbial 180!! My watchlist has people from all over the world. It is so neat. I just love it!!

To celebrate the lovely Jessica Tremp’s birthday, we had a relaxed but way awesome BBQ with friends…. who all happened to be bubblers. / Highlights of the day… Jessica’s kick arse salad (vegetarians do it better) Laying in the sun drinking red wine Bellmusker and Julie drinking white wine (the traitors!) and discussing maternal instincts Jo taking Jessica for a piggy back and stacking it while attempting a really cool ducking move Lisa and Mark German refereeing Twister and not letting us cheat John Robb being the Twister spinner and making us hold still in really stupid positions so he could take photos Kristy starting bubble wars with people Steph being so cool and not shy at all When the cat rocked up and Wen followed it all over the park taking photos The best lemon tart in the whole entire world and universe – Chris is a genius lemon tart chooser Matt playing guitar to us when the laptop batteries died Talking creative stuff with Paul and Kelly Dancing around Jessica’s lounge room to Mariah Carey Christmas songs… ok, so only Jo enjoyed that bit Thanks everyone who came. It was a great day.

Oh my! / I guess this is the official announcement! / [well in redbubble anyway!] Skik asked adgray to marry him and adgray said yes! * lol what a funny way of telling the world! / But hey in here I CAN tell the world! :o) Michael A McDonald asked me to marry him YAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!! I will soon become Mrs Alyssa Dorne McDonald YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!! :o)* I’m sorry if I sound like I’m going a bit over board here but I’ve never been asked before! / My first husband found out I was pregnant and decided we’d get married on x date! / Hubby #2 I asked on leap day – OMG!!! that was 20 years ago tomorrow!!!! / and the last one didn’t believe in marriage! [funny how he’s been married for 2 years now – to someone else!] / So I guess third time is lucky! So to be asked was wonderful! but now we have to come up with a ring! more’s the point, with the money for a ring! / I like antique ones, gold and mellow and well loved before, and his favourite colour is deep red so a deep port-wine ruby would be nice and as we are both Aries diamonds too would be wonderful! [6 for our 6 collective kids] But it takes dosh and dosh we don’t got much of! / Funny we can have a wedding virtually cost free – my family are into catering & entertainment and my uncle is a celebrant and Mick’s mothers house would be divine! We can also have a brilliant cheap honey moon – we love camping! But we cant afford a ring …yet! And Mick has never asked anyone before – never been married either. [Yes I will be gentle lol] but I can’t explain it it’s just right! Well there it is folks! / Apologies to any who didn’t know before – you should check out Saleire’s “Wings of Love” that’s where it leaked out! lol – my kids found out cos they peeked there lol / We were waiting to get a ring before we told anyone – people look for that I’ve found! lol / And for the romantics who want to know all the details, I am trying to create a piece on our fine romance – that’s hard! lol so if you’re interested keep watching! lol / Now you can understand all our lovey dovey stuff! lol Well there you go and I hope skik doesn’t kill me for announcing it without him lol So for all you lonely hearts stay with it! the one for you is out there somewhere! you’ll find each other soon enough and yes when you least expect it! Keep Happy! ~ adg :o) ps my pen name will stay the same >> adgray

Hi all as you know I have a wonderful bond with two special female artist’s here in my city that I have painted with, exhibited with laughed with, and even cried with….On this night though we were laughing and loving being together…..felt so right and so good… Kym Nic and Anna…hugs xoxo Anna Bartlett and Nic Hohn, both have bubble sites and even though they have not been as active as I on here they are both fantastic artist’s in their own right….I had the good fortune to catch up with them both at the Grammar art show opening on Friday night, where much to their delight they both sold two pieces, which is great for opening night…. We then caught up on Saturday for a bit at the gallery Anna owns, which we used to open every Sunday leading up to Christmas, due to changes in our lives, this no longer happens, however this Sunday gone I open up for a few hours and was lucky to get payment for a painting that had been on layby for some time…So all in all it was a good weekend for the three of us on many levels….. I would love you to take a look at Anna’s site….or at least the paintings I have here, I will get to feature my darling Nic later this week…. till then love to all…P.S Anna does the best hand painted art bags ever….I will be sporting one when I come down to Sydney so keep an eye out…this girl has a big future….Move over Ken Done…AB is on her way….

Well, not quite but it is a year ago this week, that I joined this RedBubble community. It was thanks to rsmac whilst listening to TripleJ airing an interview about RedBubble, when he joined and then couldn’t stop talking about it. It sounded sooo good, it couldn’t possibly be bad for me, could it, it not like it was an addiction or anything sinister, was it? I couldn’t help but join and see for myself. I know this has been said hundreds if not thousands of times on here, but I derive a lot of pleasure from this community. I have come across artists and their art I would have otherwise not seen, made friendships and contacts that would have seemed impossible, learnt skills that previously alluded me, sold work that I didn’t know I had the capabilities of creating, bought work that I now proudly cherish, joined art groups where my work has been showcased, host and co-host various art groups where I enjoy the interaction of other like-minded photographers, visited galleries both in and out of my local area to see artists’ work up close and personal, collaborated with artists and achieved amazing and positive results, made it to the featured pages, and even made it on the home page, read inspiring and moving short stories and series that left me gasping for more. There’s been lots of changes and some controversy in this time, but essentially the community has always remained that same inspiring community I first fell in love with a year ago. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and friendship to those of you who have made this year such a joyous and enriching one for me – I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

  • Chookas Means .......... :O)
    by adgray

*Heya everybody!! :O) I Use this phrase an awful lot and really there has only been ONE person who knew what I was on about. So I gues…

Heya everybody!! :O) I Use this phrase an awful lot and really there has only been ONE person who knew what I was on about. So I guess now is as good a time as any to give you a meaning to Chookas!! [and sorry, no it is not my nickname :O)] “Chookas” is a theatrical term for Good Luck that my mum and her cronies in the [Australian] National Theatre Ballet & Opera company made up back in the 40s 50s. Back stage in a theatre it is bad luck to say “good luck” [or whistle or mention “Mac…” That Scottish play :O)] and the usual wish of “Break a leg” is not a dancer’s favourite so Chookas was invented. / I use it now to wish people well – good luck & happiness and all that :O) and it is spreading! :O) / I taught it to the singers Kylie & Danni Minogue [and all the other students in our school when we were there in the 70s] and Danni was lately a judge on a TV show and she taught it to the contestants there and thus most of Australia who watched her :O) I think she’s spread it through the music field and It has spread down through the theatre other ways as I have heard it returned to me from other people I’ve not told! :O) See !! So Chookas! :O) PS and yes I really did know the Minogue girls They were in lower forms at my high school. Danni was an angel but Kylie was a tramp in the makings! She wore dresses with hems just under her nickers and her hair piled high and make up and jewellery to rival any hooker and she “Owned” one of the toilets – terrorising anyone who wanted to use them with threatened cigarette burns or hairspray in the eye. But alas all the males in the school, students & teachers alike, LOVED her! It was as if she had some spell she could wiggle her bum and chew her cud [chewy] and they would drool! What’s more Kylie had a thing for my younger brothers and would come over seeking them Mum & I would cover for them and send her away and my brothers would slide out from under Mum’s bed gratefully! / But even better I was her last choir mistress ….. and I chucked her out of my special 5 part harmony choir because she has an inner ear problem and goes off key when others sing around her! I told her “Stick to Solo work or BIG choirs where it wont be noticed if you go off the note!” We went on to win the eisteddfod … she went on …. well we all know what she went on and did! <) / Karma slapped me with watching her walk into “The Sullivan’s” TV shoot time and time again until the Producer / Director bloke shouted “Cut! Someone write a part for that girl and get her out of everyone else’s shots!” and THAT’s how she got into TV. Worse still they bought MY uniform off me for her to wear cos mine was the old one! >/ gggggggrrrrrrrrr man did we hate her! >/ Sometimes I shout to myself KEEP HAPPY!!!!! :O)

Hi! Yes, that’s me with a framed up painting of “Love Meditations” and my little owl finger puppet toy named Ophelia too! I was at a joint exhibition’s opening ceremony here in Bangkok,Thailand yesterday evening, I’m currently having 7 of my paintings exhibited there, one of which is “Love Meditations”. Drum roll please, / having a little fun here tonight…...champagne in hand….. I have decided that after facing down some negativity of late, and a few personal hardships, maybe the universe is now smiling and rewarding me for my continual “belief” and for holding onto the “stuff” I dream of. It has been a rewarding month for me, so far as my art is concerned…. My images have been honoured by Features in various groups…. / THANK YOU to the / “All Things Ancient Egyptian” group, / the “Dolphins and Whales” group, / “The Healing Journey” group and the / “Abstract Digital Art and Writing Group”...... for the features…... “The Line of Bast” was featured in All things Ancient Egyptian “Exhilarate!” was featured in the group Dolphins & Whales “Believe” was featured in the group The Healing Journey “Kylee” was featured in the group All things Ancient Egyptian “I Had A Dream” was featured in the group The Healing Journey “Trinity” was featured in the group ABSTRACT DIGITAL ART AND WRITING On a grander note, the opening of the new ArtGeo gallery in Busselton was celebrated this month, with the “SIGNATURE SOUTH WEST” exhibition, and a first prize of $10,000. (YES…ten big ones!!) / (No, of course I did not win that one ha ha) / Congratulations go to Philip Berry for taking out the major prize, awarded by three PERTH judges, but the thrill of the night was that in an exhibition of 86 works from top local and state artists, I received a Highly Commended for my artwork, which truly was a great honour, considering the amazing standard of work presented and the talented company I was in. And now, tonight was the Awards Night for this year’s Annual Busselton Photography contest, run by our Chamber of Commerce. Three talented professional photographers – Christian Fletcher, Roger Clark and Derek Poole were the judges and I was thrilled to come home with a First Prize (Digital Art) and a Highly Commended for two of my images that made it to the finals. In the Public choice awards, voted on by the people of the region, I also got a Third Place….. / so…... I have just had a glass or two of champers and wish to share my happy news with my good friends at Redbubble…... / So raising my glass, thank you for your friendship, support and inspiration….. / Cheers!

♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣ His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. [Yes Scottish] One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman’s sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed / nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved. / ‘I want to repay you,’ said the nobleman. ‘You saved my son’s life.’ / ‘No, I can’t accept payment for what I did,’ the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. / At that moment, the farmer’s own son came to the door of the family hovel. / ‘Is that your son?’ the nobleman asked. / ‘Yes,’ the farmer replied proudly. / ‘I’ll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy If the lad is anything like his father, he’ll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.’ And that he did. Farmer Fleming’s son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin. Years afterward, the same nobleman’s son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time? ~ Penicillin. The name of the nobleman? ~ Lord Randolph Churchill … / His son’s name? ~ Sir Winston Churchill. ♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣ Someone once said: What goes around comes around / So - / Work like you don’t need the money / Love like you’ve never been hurt / Dance like nobody’s watching / Sing like nobody’s listening / (Write like nobody’s reading / Create art like nobody’s looking) / Live like it’s Heaven on Earth / / It’s National Friendship Week. [It’s not I don’t think … I’m not sure … I guess somewhere it might be … but then with all these circulating e-chain-mails it can only be a good thing that the recognised weeks are elongated, passed around and noted all year long! :O)] So send this to everyone you consider A FRIEND. If you pass this on, you will brighten someone’s day. / / ♣☺♣ / AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH: / ♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣ / May there always be work for your hands to do; / May your purse always hold a coin or two; / May the sun always shine on your windowpane; / May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain; / May the hand of a friend always be near you; / May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you. / and may you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows you’re dead! ☺ ♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣☺♣

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure in attending the monthly Rat Rhymes meet up at the Mallow Hotel in Ballarat for an afternoon of fun, poetry and frivolity….oh and of course a few drinks! Raymondoantonio / Sandra22 / and Liz Kelly (who may be making her debut on Redbubble soon) held a captive audience with their blend of amazingly moving, funny, sad, emotional, hilarious, serious, erotic poetry for hours and most certainly is a must see/do experience if you ever get the chance and can make it for an afternoon. I managed to capture a few action shots in between drinks, chit chat and lots of fun…........ The Wonderful Raymondo warms up for another bout of emotional rescue / The Beautiful Sandra22 waxes lyrical to a captivated audience. This was the first time Sandra and I had finally caught up and she is such a gorgeous woman, was so lovely to meet you Sandra!! xx / Lovely Liz Kelly shares her poetry from her travels all over the globe for over twenty years. We all encouraged Liz to join us in RB so fingers crossed that we can all enjoy her wonderful words soon!! / To be or Not to Be…....... / Ray is just amazing, and I swear it’s just like an afternoon at the Opera!! / Sayonara Raymondo, until we meet again!! / So yeah, it was a top afternoon, lots of lovely people there to enjoy the wonderful words of these amazing poets and writers…....and a really great chance to catch up with other members of RB…..... Hope to see you there sometime soon!! Trace / :))
