  • I love this game – i think children all over the world love this game and i love it when i think of our similarites instead of our differences and this is what this tree did for me – i also wondered how many children had hid in it. * /

We only nearly fell of the jet ski, hmmm…. repeatedly. I hope it was worth it! Thanks to my Jetski driver and all round relaxing company James

  • Marriage or wedlock is an interpersonal relationship with governmental, social, or religious recognition. It is often created as a contract or through civil processes. Civil marriage is the legal concept of marriage as a governmental institution. / The most common form of marriage unites one man and one woman as husband and wife. Other forms of marriage also exist: for example, polygamy in which a person takes more than one spouse is common in many societies. In some jurisdictions civil marriage has been expanded to include same-sex marriage. / People marry for many reasons, but usually one or more of the following: legal, social and economic stability; the formation of a family unit; procreation and the education and nurturing of children; legitimizing sexual relations; public declaration of love; or to obtain citizenship.

  • Watercolour on Bockingford watercolour paper As we are stuck in the depths of winter down here in New Zealand, I thought it might be good to choose something to paint that’s funny, to lift the spirit. So I have come up with a painting called ‘Playing Footsie’. Have you ever played it? It is an intimate game, basically a way of flirting silently without other people noticing (like an inside joke, but better). Be warned, it is best played with someone you really like and likes you back. Be gentle and don’t kick the other person by accident or it could have the reverse effect I thought it was time to try out some watercolour pencils I had bought last month. They were secondhand (unused) bought from a auction site. They are Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, a tin of 12. I used Bockingford watercolour paper for this painting.

Image taken with the Nikon D40x, using the 18-135mm lens. Used the tripod, shutter speed 6, aperture f/22, exposure -.67, iso 800. No flash. Of everything I’ve done, this is by far my favorite image (well, actually, there IZ one other … ). This was created for a “challenge” at another photo site … and came in second place out of … well, a bunch … but that’s not why it’s my favorite. This was done not long after I got my Nikon D40x … which I realize isn’t a wildly sophisticated camera, but which was a giant leap forward to me after my little Olympus C-5000 zoom. There were many new features on the Nikon that I was hopelessly confused about, but I was very fortunate to have a dear friend, AndreiSky, who kindly helped me understand the mysteries of the aperture. The set up for this image was an adventure in flashlights, darkness, kitchen stools, sofa pillows and the dreaded tripod. Not to mention my beautiful antique mahjong set … for which I finally found a use since I have no idea how to play mahjong!! So that’s it!! My masterpiece!! Hope you like it!!!

  • Truth or Dare?

On the weekend I threw and gave away about half of my clothing, and 26 bags of other stuff I no longer use. I wanted the space more than the stuff, if that makes sense? Space to move, space to think, space to grow into. And as I piled things into bags I reminisced about where it had all come from, the stories which surrounded my possessions. In my prime time, I was somewhat truth or dare obsessed. It was my favorite way to meet new people – right down to business. What do you fear? loathe? How far would you go? What last made you cry? And with weekly games of truth or dare, it became a ritual to write down the best ones onto squares of cardboard. Later on, those cards, all beaten and torn, were typed and laminated onto the back of playing cards and passed around friendships for others to use. A deck of questions, poking into people’s souls. I’ve carried them around for years now. And yesterday, I threw them away. I expected to regret it straight away, but I didn’t. Because it isn’t the end of truth or dare, just the start of a new game. Anyone want to play?
