  • Mt. Baldy Sundae
    by Mark Ramstead

I did a series of watercolors where I introduced things into the landscape that did not entirely look out of place there. These cherries on top of one of my favorite local mountains while covered with snow evoke a nice hot fudge sundae.

Watch the Video Clip here i’ve waited hours for this / i’ve made myself so sick / i wish i’d stayed / asleep today i never thought this day would end / i never thought tonight could ever be / this close to me just try to see in the dark / just try to make it work / to feel the fear before you’re here / i make the shapes come much too close / i pull my eyes out / hold my breath / and wait until i shake… but if i had your faith / then i could make it safe and clean / if only i was sure / that my head on the door was a dream i’ve waited hours for this / i’ve made myself so sick / i wish i’d stayed asleep today / i never thought this day would end / i never thought tonight could ever be / this close to me but if i had your face / then i could make it safe and clean / if only i was sure that my head on the doorwas a dream The Cure

/ Once upon a time there was a small family owned pet shop in town. / The owners sold mostly birds, hamsters and fish. I had known the family for years and at that time they were my only source for timothy hay for my rabbits, along with other specialty rabbit items, so I would visit them often. It would have done me well to have stayed away from the place though. LOL! / Over the years that the shop was in business I let the owner talk me into bringing three rabbits home left over from the Easter holiday; and then one day I walked in and there was this playful little kitten, rolling around on the floor in front of the cash register, with a tiny ball. Of course I had to “touch”, what “cat lover” in their right mind can pass by a beautiful, black, long-haired butter-ball of a kitten playing on a rug? I quickly learned the kitten had been left at the store by owners who were trying to find it a home. I sighed, got up and went about the business of gathering my purchase of “rabbit food and snacks” and as I stood at the cash register here comes this little kitten again; wide open, running side-ways toward me with his tail all bristled out. I broke into laughter. In that instant he’d won my heart. There is nothing I love more in a cat than “cattitude”, and I knew this little guy certainly had it. For the additional cost of a bag of cat food I left the store with one kitten and his little toy, and loaded down with pet supplies and wondering how I was going to explain “another cat” to my husband. (Who at that time wasn’t as settled into our new roll in life as a homeless shelter ;o) It was December 31, 2000 and I’ll never forget it was an unusually warm and sunny New Years Eve. When I arrived home hubby was out and I devised a plan to tell him that I had found “Fudge” in a box on our front porch. / I had just started my job at the vet’s office then, and it wasn’t unusual at all for people to call me, or ask me to take those in need. I just knew he’d buy my story. / So I cuddled Fudge, got him cozy in the kitchen, blocked him off from the others with the baby gate, and it wasn’t too long before one of the senior members of the cat family jumped the gate and was soon standing there looking at this ball of fuzz, again playing chase with his toy ball. The second that Fudge saw the intruder into his world he stood on tip-toe, fuzzed up his tail and ran across the kitchen floor. LOL! I knew we’d have no problems with this one getting acclimated into his new home. Hubby accepted Fudge with open arms, and it wasn’t until a couple years ago that I told him the “real story” about how Fudge came to live with us. He said he always suspected something was wrong with my story, but just never said anything. LOL! / I don’t endorse fibbing to your spouse; but in this case our lives have been richer because of this beautiful, and big guy and he’s led the life of a pampered family member ever since. xoTerri

  • Fudge

    US$5.82–US$133.00

A selection of tasty fudge…. home made and for sale in Greenwich Market…including strawberry, coffee, chocolate, custard flavours Camera: Nikon D40X The components of Fudge are very similar to the traditional recipe for Scots Tablet, which is noted in “The Household Book of Lady Grisell Baillie” (1692-1733). The term “fudge” is often used in the United Kingdom for a softer variant of the tablet recipe. One of the first documentations of American-style fudge (containing chocolate) is found in a letter written by Emelyn Battersby Hartridge, a student at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She wrote that her schoolmate’s cousin made fudge in Baltimore, Maryland in 1886 and sold it for 40 cents a pound. Miss Hartridge got hold of the fudge recipe, and in 1888, made 30 lb (14 kg) of fudge for the Vassar College Senior Auction. This Vassar fudge recipe became quite popular at the school for years to come.[
