/ “Jazz” is from my Gallery Collection on my website “The Journey”...original is for sale. Acrylic on Canvas..Three Jazz apples on a Fantasy Landscape background.. Painting the Jazz was exciting, as I chose all those blues, with ribbons of green, and near the centre, intense orange….the rich scarlets of the Jazz, are in brilliant contrast to the cooler colours. / I could not wait to see the finished results, and I was not disappointed… / The Jazz fulfilled my every expectation, that it would live up to it’s name. / Jazz MORNING JOY / Piano buttons, stitched on morning lights. / Jazz wakes with the day, / As I awaken with jazz, love lit the night. / Eyes appear and disappear, / To lead me once more, to a green moon. / Streets paved with opal sadness, / Lead me counterclockwise, to pockets of joy, / And jazz.....Bob Kaufmann

/ “Mutsu Carnival” is part of the Gallery Collection... Acrylic on Canvas..a trio of Mutsu Apples on a Fantasy Commedia Carnavale background..original painting is for sale… When this painting of Mutsu was finished, what emerged was a definite echo of Harlequin and Columbine…. the combination of pinks, oranges, blues and greens are enticing….it’s one of my favourites. I was inspired to write the outline of a play to go with the painting….although the characters are based on the Commedia dell’Arte, there the resemblance ends. The story is entirely my invention….see it in my writing pages HERE.... / / /
/ “2 Red Pears” is part of the Series Blue, Food, and Pears...see more from the Series below… Watercolour on Arches Paper… Other than eating them out of hand, red pears make a vibrant addition to a fall salad. Combine slices with arugula, walnuts and shavings of Parmesan cheese. Toss with a lemon vinaigrette. Or bake sliced pears as a topping for a simple yellow cake. Make cake batter and pour into a 9-inch square pan. Then thinly slice a red pear and toss with 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg or cinnamon. Arrange the fruit on top of the batter. Sprinkle with a couple teaspoons of sugar and bake the cake as directed...Washington Post. / / / / / / /
/ “The Collation” is part of the Gallery collection...see others below…a Collation is a light informal meal… Acrylic on Canvas…original is also for sale… With the last stroke of the brush on these peaches/nectarines, I pictured Elizabeth Bennet, when towards the end of this wonderful book, she was sitting in Mr. Darcy’s house, being entertained by his sister, and in agony lest he should come in and find her there…by this time she is well aware that she is in love with him..... “The next variation which their visit afforded was produced by the entrance of the servants with a collation of cold meat, cake, and a variety of all the finest fruits in season; but this did not take place till after many a significant look and smile from Mrs. Annesley to Miss Darcy had been given, to remind her of her post. / There was now employment for the whole party..for though they could not all talk, they could all eat; and the beautiful pyramids of grapes, nectarines, and peaches soon collected them round the table. “Pride and Prejudice. / / / / /
/ “Green Anjou” is part of the portfolio collection....more below… Acrylic on Canvas… Anjou pears are thought to have originated in France, in the vicinity of Angers. The variety was introduced to England early in the 19th century. Called Beurré d’ Anjou, they were introduced to America in about 1842. The name has been shortened simply to “Anjou.” Usapears.com This Green Anjou, has the feeling of an exotic plant that grows deep in the centre of the rain forest…. once every thousand years or so, fruit emerges, glowingly lighting up the forest floor…...makes for a good legend. Brilliant short tendrils / come out of a night / full of noises and / dripping and / busy spiders, / gleaming in the first / sun that yawns / its way / past barely open pods of / rainbow orchids, / preparing to meander on the ground, / up a tree, / through dead leaves / towards a light / that is just too far away / / /

/ “Frangipani Night”is part of the Tropics collection…created for Catherine, who made a special request, it is quite different in mood from the others in the series….painted in close-up, uncomplicated, and reduced to it’s simplest lines….it glows in the dark, giving off it’s exotic scent in competition with the light of the moon...Watercolour on Arches Hot Pressed Paper… How delicate / Is the light? / Pouring through / Within face of night / Aches of harmony / Lip silence in the dark / Reciting a silent symphony / Moonlight on Frangipani / Steals the light / Unburned pinch / Arousing the night / Delightful ....Nasra Al Adawi /

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Sunflower and Bees The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant in the family Asteraceae and native to the Americas, with a large flowering head. The stem can grow as high as 3 meters (9 3/4 ft), and the flower head can reach 30 cm (11.8 in) in diameter with the “large” seeds. The term “sunflower” is also used to refer to all plants of the genus Helianthus, many of which are perennial plants. / What is usually called the flower is actually a head of numerous florets (small flowers) crowded together. The outer florets are the sterile ray florets and can be yellow, maroon, orange, or other colours. The florets inside the circular head are called disc florets, which mature into what are traditionally called “sunflower seeds,” but are actually the fruit of the plant. The inedible husk is the wall of the fruit and the true seed lies within the kernel. The florets within the sunflower’s cluster are arranged in a spiralling pattern.
