This is a macro of a cherry blossom shot with a canon 100 macro f2.8 with the canon 50mm reversed onto the front of the 100. Tedious work to say the least, but I thought this one turned out ok. Eve returns to Adam having eaten the forbidden fruit. / Acrylic on canvas. 38×36 in. this picture is a collaboration with fellow bubbler Jeff Schauss who painted a loose background on canvas so that i could then see what images would appear from the textures. neither of us had any pre-conceptions of what the image should be, letting the work develop into its own form was a breath of fresh air from my usual pre-planned assaults from sketches and notes. and so an image of eden emerged, in that critical interjunction between the fall of eve and the fall of adam, and the changing of humanity forever.

Bonsai (kanji: 盆栽, (literally “bon-planted”, where a ‘bon’ is a tray-like pot typically used in bonsai culture) is the art of aesthetic miniaturization of trees, or of developing woody or semi-woody plants shaped as trees, by growing them in containers. Cultivation includes techniques for shaping, watering, and repotting in various styles of containers. ‘Bonsai’ is a Japanese pronunciation of the earlier Chinese term penzai (盆栽). The word bonsai is used in the West as an umbrella term for all miniature trees in containers or pots.

This work was created when thinking of a challenge about fairytales and while it still fits that challenge (at least I think it does) it morphed into my current spirituality crisis I’m going through… maybe crisis is over dramatic… “God” created EVERYTHING right? Before this universe was created there was literally JUST HIM right? 20 years of church with me so far? What I deduce from this is: / God created sin. (if there was nothing in this universe…if God created everything in exsistance…) / God created our ability to CHOOSE sin. / God then punished us for HIS creations. / God is a loving god who LOVES us so much. / however…if we find it hard to believe all this we go straight to a place of torment and torture…. / This doesn’t add up to me anymore. I get that we have the choice to be good or bad. I get that God glave us free will. What I don’t get is that HE CREATED THE SIN IN THE FIRST PLACE. He created Satan and Satan’s ability to fall. We are all his creation…why create evil? My guess is that it’s because it’s not really how everything came to be. I believe early peeps needed a reason for life and a way to control the masses… There is enough proof…or so they say…that Jesus exsisted, but I’m doubting he was created to save my wretched soul that God created in the first place. / I should note that I grew up in a Southern Baptist church and was saved and baptised at the age of 13. 13 years later my stained glass window of faith was completely shattered and for the last 5 years I have been unable to rebuild it. The pieces JUST don’t fit…. did they ever? Also… an etirnity kneeling at a man’s feet singing his praises is SOOO not my idea of heaven… Nikon D80 / altered in PS CS4 / it’s not perfect, but I guess I’m not either… Thanks Eve!

Today Convent Garden in central London is an area of fashionable cafes, wine bars and high- end luxury goods shops but at one time it was the home of the wholesale fruit and vegetable trade serving the whole of London and very much a working enviroment. By the late sixties growing traffic conjestion, parking problems and narrow streets unsuitable for the increasing size of lorries made a move from this increasingly valuable land more or less inevitable and the whole shooting match was moved to a new site at Nine Elms on the other side of the Thames, once the venue of the Southern region’s largest steam locomotive shed. Today the trade is carried on in a huge modern complex, the vehicles are forty- ton juggernauts but the Cockey characters doing the wheeling and dealing are still very much the same probably the sons and grandsons of the people seen in my picture. This painting in oils on a 20”x30” board was commissioned by an exiled Londoner living in the West Country and based on contemporary photographs. A painting like this of your favourite vehicle, British or American, in oils on canvas or board would cost about £1000.
