One must suffer for your art correct? Well this might fit, I headed out this cold December dawn a year ago with temps at -5 and windchill at -30. A bit chilly and I learned that if you take a glove and grab a metal tripod leg your hand will stick at least for a few moments. I hope the image was worth it! The frozen surface of Mud Lake just after dawn one cold winter morning. The long shadows of the tree stumps making eerie lines across the ice and skiff of snow on top.

A major early snow storm blanketed the Cascade Mountains. A small lake nearly froze over by winter cold offers a bit of a reflection as Mt. Rainier looms in the background capped by a lenticular cloud cap. A pristine view one can linger on if you can stand the cold.

Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see, but it is impossible. Humans hide their secrets too well. —Rene Magritte

This dry leaf was on the camping table at the beach, all frozen. The sun was trying to dry it up again…..untouched.

I took this picture on the steepest island of the world…La Palma (canarian islands). Although it’s the steepest island of the world it’s very rare that it’s snowy on top of the biggest vulcanic mountain. / It was a lucky week so I drove all the way up to the “Roche De Los Muchachos”>>> / (3000 metres high). Shortly before I reached the top a little cave caught my attention. / I went inside and discovered beautiful, thick icicles. The energy there was incredible….it felt pure….above the clouds…elements. check what the product looks like here thank you for stopping by!

Five ducks in a row on ice,no trics.Taken at a small lake near my place.

A cottonwood leaf frozen into the ice along the Yakima River. A season past trapped in the present. This is one you need to see in large view!
-
Inspired by William Styron’s ‘Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness’.

This berg was as big as a house! We were bobbing around in a little lifeboat so we could be close to these and get some photos. Our main ship, the Skorpios III, although happy to plough through ice flows would not venture closer than 1 kilometre to the glacier face. The glacier in the background is the Pope Pio XI, the largest glacier (I think) in South America. Southern Patagonia, Chile.

A pastel sunrise on a bitterly cold February morning had frost clinging to the reeds along this Central Washington lake as a cold mist arose with the sun.
-
A cool change from the warm summer weather. Created entirely in Photoshop using brushes and layer styles. The background was a project I began 3 months ago but completely forgot about :D
-
A bitterly cold morning on the surface of Mud lake. The rising sun offered little warmth but it did outline the frost on the cat tails and reeds.

I love winter for the myriad of little treasures one can find at your feet. Here, Ice along the Tieton River wrapping a small stone in the heart shaped embrace of Winter.

Fractured ice traps the colorful cottonwood leaves of a season past.

Gallery 1 / Gallery 2 / Gallery 3 / Gallery 4 / Gallery 5 / Gallery 6 ============================== Best viewed in large view for details I spent Xmas and new year in germany in the forest , this is what it looked like . This picture was taken in the “Taunus” mountain range, about 70km NorthWest of Frankfurt. The next bigger towns are called “Weilburg” and “Braunfels” / —-—-—-—-—— / The talanted Sally Omar / got inspired by This work and wrote this Romantic Poem to go with this Image , Thank you my friend. FROZEN Two young friends walking through the woods / It was cold and the ground was FROZEN..the trees were iced / And they giggled and laughed as they usually would / They had been friends since they were children..always nice / But this one day would change their lives like no other / The Creator looked down with the warmth of his smile / And these two young friends turned out to be lovers / The Creator saw the love they shared within / The purity of the FROZEN earth and how they were glorified / In the beauty of this place and how they were without sin / His eyes sparkled as he looked at these young friends, he sighed / Such purity and love of the FROZEN land / They are so innocent and so in love with life / And they appreciate so the work of My Hand / He warmed their hearts as though they were on fire / Their first kiss was under a tree iced by the Creator’s bliss / And they looked at each other with such burning desire / They stood under the tree and could not again help but kiss / Then gazed at each other with complete surprise / Looked around at the FROZEN earth and it all came into view / They realized the iced beauty of this place opened their eyes / And looked at each other and said I love you / The story goes on to say they lived in love for all of their days / When they left this world to go on to the better Place / They were allowed to go to the Forest where they first fell in love / Where it was magnificently FROZEN and the trees iced and brisk / The Creator smiled again and watched from above / As they shared a beautiful wonderful last FROZEN kiss / ___ {{{{{{{{{{{ ART PRINTS & CARDS }}}}}}}}}}}

Bow Lake. Alberta, Canada / March, 2008 Inspired by comments from Stuart Chapman and Rhana Griffin on my last upload of this stunning setting, I decided to revisit this location… if only I could have actually revisited for real, but sadly only through my many pictures… This really was an expanse of breath taking scenery and I was more than happy to pull this one out of the bag…

With rivers here frozen over from our long cold spell it creates lots of photo opportunities if one just looks down. Pine needles frozen into the ice along the Yakima River

After a 14 hour flight and a 50min walk through 0º freezing cold… we ended up at Lord’s cricket ground for an hour tour – somehow I thnk Siena wasn’t sure what the hell the tour guide was talking about, as both perplexion, boredom and cold set in.
