This is one typical example of the beauty of Nature’s work in the far south of this planet. / Taken from a zodiac whilst investigating ice berg alleys during an Antarctic summer.

A morbid history of St. John’s… the hill in the background is known as Gibbets Hil, it is where all the criminals were hung in public executions. The body of water at the base of the hill is where the executioner would throw the bodies when they were dead. The pond is known as “Dead Man’s Pond”. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

I finally found the tractor I have been looking for. I saw this old antique from the road and thankfully had my camera in tow. I braved the 3 feet of snow and frigid Newfoundland winds but I finally got my shot I’d been waiting to get. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /
This yellow dory was tied to the wharf for the winter. The boat launch had quite a steep angle to it… you can see the ocean far below, so the dory was secured with these blue ropes.I loved the contrast between the yellow boat and the blue ropes holding it securely. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / laminated print / /
“Big Red” lighthouse in the winter.
When I saw this scene I thought it looked as though Mother Nature was taking back what was hers. The stone of the building meets the force of nature head on… an epic battle of the ages. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

I took a shot of this old barn on my way home from a day of fantastic picture taking. The ladder leaning against the barn really caught my eye. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography
This Robin landed in a tree near my back deck, mostly I just see them on the ground. I was happy to get this photo.

By far the most famous fictional ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman. The ship has become synonymous with the phenomenon so that “Flying Dutchman” is often used as a generic term for any apparition-type ghost ship. The term may also refer to a real ship that was reported to be seen – often as an apparition – after sinking, or to a ship found floating with no crewmembers on board. According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail “the seven seas” forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. If she is hailed by another ship, her crew will often try to send messages to land, to people long since dead. / Versions of the story are numerous. According to some, the story is originally Dutch, while others claim it is based on the English play The Flying Dutchman (1826) by Edward Fitzball and the novel The Phantom Ship (1837) by Frederick Marryat, later adapted into the Dutch story Het Vliegend Schip (The Flying Ship) by the Dutch clergyman A.H.C. Römer. Other versions include the opera by Richard Wagner (1841) and The Flying Dutchman on Tappan Sea by Washington Irving (1855).
The image has been created as an alternative to the popular and greatly exaggerated theory of global warming and its consequences. Since global warming activists predict a dramatic change of the planet’s surface in the nearest future, the Ice Age Premonition portrays our society in the new Ice Age. / Ice Age – A cold period marked by episodes of extensive glaciations alternating with episodes of relative warmth. Any geologic period during which thick ice sheets cover vast areas of land. Such periods of large-scale glaciations may last several million years and drastically reshape surface features of entire continents. A number of major ice ages have occurred throughout the Earth’s history; the most recent periods were during the Pleistocene Epoch. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth’s past. The last glacial period ended about ten thousand years ago. / Surrealism art prints / Digital art prints / Fantasy digital art wallpapers
Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. Featured in Nikon D40 (x) Users November 24, 2009. / Featured in Winter in the North-East USA February 9, 2009 I was thinking of naming this one Snow White and the Seven Dwarves … but there are more than seven little trees, and I couldn’t seem to consistently get the same number when I’d count them up!!! I know there’s a lot of negative space happening here … but I liked the feeling of distance and scale … and of course the subtle and quickly changing light in the sky is a big part of the fun. This is located just a short walk up from our Cabin on Blue Knob Mountain in Claysburg, PA. Image taken on January 20, 2009 with the Nikon D40x, using the 18-200mm VR Nikon lens.
