    by Phil Thomson IPA

    US$3.71–US$98.80

As soon as I came across this lone lamb, I was reminded of the old hymn by Ira Sankey, based on Matthew 18:13…. The Ninety and Nine. There were ninety and nine that safely lay / In the shelter of the fold. / But one was out on the hills away, / Far off from the gates of gold. / Away on the mountains wild and bare. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. “Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; / Are they not enough for Thee?” / But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine / Has wandered away from Me; / And although the road be rough and steep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep.” But none of the ransomed ever knew / How deep were the waters crossed; / Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through / Ere He found His sheep that was lost. / Out in the desert He heard its cry, / Sick and helpless and ready to die; / Sick and helpless and ready to die. “Lord, whence are those blood drops all the way / That mark out the mountain’s track?” / “They were shed for one who had gone astray / Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.” / “Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?” / “They are pierced tonight by many a thorn; / They are pierced tonight by many a thorn.” And all through the mountains, thunder riven / And up from the rocky steep, / There arose a glad cry to the gate of Heaven, / “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!” / And the angels echoed around the throne, / “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own! / Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”

  • The cat was spotted doing a tightrope walk across the support wires of the strawberry net followed by a belly flop into the middle. I knew what it was about and rushed out to rescue a tiny mouse which was the cat was stalking. It scuttled off under a plant whilst I held onto a disgruntled cat. I hope it survived its fright. To A Mouse ( On Turning Her Up In Her Nest With The Plough, November 1785) – Robert Burns Wee, sleekit, cowrin’, tim’rous beastie / O what a panic’s in the breastie! / Thou need na start awa sae hasty, / Wi’ bickering brattle! / I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee / Wi’ murd’ring pattle! I’m truly sorry man’s dominion / Has broken Nature’s social union, / An’ justifies that ill opinion / Which makes thee startle / At me, thy poor earth-born companion, / An’ fellow-mortal! I doubt na, whiles, but thou may thieve: / What then? poor beastie, thou maun live! / A daimon-icker in a thrave / ‘S a sam’ request: / I’ll get a blessin’ wi’ the lave, / And never miss ‘t! Thy wee bit housie, too, in ruin! / Its silly wa’s the win’s are strewin’! / An’ naething, now, to big a new ane, / O’ foggage green! / An’ bleak December’s winds ensuin’, / Baith snell an’ keen! Thou saw the fields laid bare and waste, / An’ weary winter comin’ fast, / An’ cozie here, beneath the blast, / Thou thought to dwell, / Till crash! the cruel coulter past / Out-thro’ thy cell. That wee bit heap o’ leaves an’ stibble / Has cost thee mony a weary nibble! / Now thou’s turn’d out, for a’ thy trouble, / But house or hald, / To thole the winter’s sleety dribble, / An’ cranreuch cauld! But, Mousie, thou art no thy lane, / In proving foresight may be vain: / The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft a-gley, / An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain / For promis’d joy. Still thou are blest compar’d wi’ me! / The present only toucheth thee: / But oh! I backward cast my e’e / On prospects drear! / An’ forward tho’ I canna see, / I guess an’ fear!

  • Charolettes Web...
    by Kevin Kroeker

    US$3.56–US$95.00

This is a shot of an abandoned pig barn. It has been closed for many years now and it is all boarded up, fortunatley my wife in all her slyness found us a way in. There is still equipment scattered about the floor with gunk and grime thick upon it. There were even hooks hanging from the wall and equipment that looked rather torturous and sinister. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

  • I try to disconnect my heart again / Just so I can breathe / I wanna be myself again / But I just can’t cause / I’m afraid, to be alone / I’m afraid, that one day you’ll find out. / (‘House of Cards,’ Madina Lake) Taken: July 2008

  • Haunted
    by Kate Towers IPA

    US$3.42–US$34.20

Haunted… This house is said to be haunted and many people have reported seeing the same 2 ghosts, a husband and wife that were murdered here many years ago.

  • This profound quotation is commonly called St. Teresa’s Bookmark as it was found tucked into one of the great saint’s books. St. Teresa of Avila was a Carmelite nun who lived in Spain and was a great mystic and prolific spiritual writer. I created this image today for three people: for Barbara and Jerry, my mother’s neighbors who lost their home in a fire yesterday. All of their worldly possessions were destroyed in about thirty minutes. Barbara ran out of the house with her purse, her robe and house slippers, and the cup of coffee she was holding when smoke billowed everywhere. The other person I created this for is a friend, Brenda, who emailed me to say she was feeling low and needed a word of encouragement. I thought that these three people who are deeply troubled would be comforted by these words of enduring wisdom and truth. Maybe someone else needs to hear them, too. God help us all to remember that he alone suffices and he alone is unchanging and dependable.

  • Quite friendly people, but sometimes strange things are happening…

  • Spirit of the Tree
    by Kathie Nichols

    US$4.28–US$114.00

“As we moved deeper into the forest, the noise of the outside world began to fade. The forest floor was soft and damp while the smell of decomposing leaves wafted in the thick still air. Here and there splashes of sunlight shone through the thick canopy of leaves. Stories of this particular forest had been passed down through the generations in this small country town. Whispers of magic and strange lights at night had spread near and far. We were not disappointed for our adventure had just begun as we approached a giant oak tree which somehow seemed to come alive…............” Macro photograph taken from a paperbark tree. Aperture priority taken late in the afternoon which I find has the best lighting for what I like to achieve!

  • No Comfort...
    by Adam Stone

    US$3.71–US$98.80

Drawn 2008. Age 21. There’s a very personal meaning to this picture, but i will reframe from sharing because I don’t want to influence your own ideas for the image :-) The young boy in this image is a character strongly influencened by myself and will be the design used in other emotively evoked works that inspire back to my childhood… and ultimately presented as illustrations in my book. This was drawn quite quickly with a black biro pen, then polished up a little on photoshop, where I cleaned the whiteness and brought out the darker shades.

  • Hey - good lookin'
    by Kurt Tutschek

    US$3.71–US$98.80

The so called ‘Perchtenlaeufe’ have a long tradition here in Austria. At the beginning of December in many towns people dressed up wearing scary masks run around frightening children (and adults, too). They are called ‘Perchten’ and are often accompanied by Santa Claus. / The masks are traditionally hand-carved and they can be quite heavy – the whole costume can weigh up to 50 kg.
