Id like to go ahead and pass on a Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it now. I know later on in the week people will be too busy with getting things together, family and friends, and probably wont be here (well not for too long) / I think for the most part everyone should celebrate this day. Even tho its an American holiday, many people around the world have something to be thankful for. Of course the reason it started here was for (at the time, not that way now) but for freedom from others who wanted to dictate another’s life. / Me personally, since im single and no family here, I’ll be working, both shifts, the Am and Pm. Something I usually do for the holiday season until New Years gets here. Then thats my time…lol I usually go to Gatlinburg and shoot the fireworks for the new year :) So I hope everyone has a peaceful holiday, and remember that regardless of what might be going on, there’s always something to be thankful for. I am thankful for the friends I have made in my photography world, without them I wouldnt have had the inspiration to improve my work. I’m thankful for meeting Real People. / I am thankful for this photography site as well, it came at a time in my career where I needed positive input and reactions..so thank you.

I wish I had the time and energy to write to each of you and wish you all happy holidays personally…but as most of you know, I am in up to my ears with Christmas cookies and candies which has been taking up more than most of my time! So, to all of my new friends from RedBubble and of course, all of my dear refugee friends from Zazzland, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, whichever you are celebrating! I love you all and I will talk to you soon! / Shannon :)

wanted to share something that has made me so happy this week! / A best friend i was with at school had to move for personal family reasons when i was 16 – im 31 now, i missed her like crazy but couldnt get in touch as i didnt know where she had moved to (because of the family problems). As the years went by i often thought of her and wondered where she was but gave up hope of ever seeing her again. / well this week we found each other on myspace!! how brilliant after 17 years apart we finally are in touch again. We have spoke every day and i cant wait to go and visit her, we have a lot of catching up to do. / I found out she had tried to get in touch with me too over the years but as i have moved a lot she didnt know where i was either. / A happy ending and lots of exciting future to look forward too.

Well, not quite but it is a year ago this week, that I joined this RedBubble community. It was thanks to rsmac whilst listening to TripleJ airing an interview about RedBubble, when he joined and then couldn’t stop talking about it. It sounded sooo good, it couldn’t possibly be bad for me, could it, it not like it was an addiction or anything sinister, was it? I couldn’t help but join and see for myself. I know this has been said hundreds if not thousands of times on here, but I derive a lot of pleasure from this community. I have come across artists and their art I would have otherwise not seen, made friendships and contacts that would have seemed impossible, learnt skills that previously alluded me, sold work that I didn’t know I had the capabilities of creating, bought work that I now proudly cherish, joined art groups where my work has been showcased, host and co-host various art groups where I enjoy the interaction of other like-minded photographers, visited galleries both in and out of my local area to see artists’ work up close and personal, collaborated with artists and achieved amazing and positive results, made it to the featured pages, and even made it on the home page, read inspiring and moving short stories and series that left me gasping for more. There’s been lots of changes and some controversy in this time, but essentially the community has always remained that same inspiring community I first fell in love with a year ago. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks and friendship to those of you who have made this year such a joyous and enriching one for me – I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

  • Happy Christmas to one and all !!!

I just would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy new year. I would love for you all to take just a mom…

I just would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy new year. I would love for you all to take just a moment and say a prayer for all the little children around the world that are unwell and spare some thought for their families at this time as they find strength to live and love. I myself have been humbled, in the past few months in my life, with visions i’ve experienced of individual little souls struggling to overcome illness … I myself have found strength through prayer. Christmas, now has an enriched meaning for my family and I, more than ever before … it is important my friends, to take time from our often busy and sometimes selfish lives to consider others and thank especially our lord at this special time for our own lives and all that we have around us in terms of what really matters … the love of our family and friends and the health that really is our wealth … and remember my dear friends … no matter who you are or what your ‘religion’ might be … your God is also my God … the only difference is in how and where we pray to our God … I believe this … and we all have an equal right to believe in what we think is true … but my God is and will forever be your God too :-) ... so love him and thank him for all that makes you the person that you are. Thankyou xxx SNAPPYDAVE

  • I would like to wish all my friends on RedBubble a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. / It’s a pleasure being part of such a talented community and thank you for all your wonderful comments. / With love / Mariska:0)

Hey everyone!!! i’m back!! sorta.. am having a bad cough and sore throat some.. plus running nose.. i think it’s due to the extra strong winds we seem to be getting here in sg.. will work on recovering as fast as i can.. Stall opening has taken quite a toll i guess.. running around finding last minute printer/supplier.. going to the art shop to press my own keychains and buttons.. my underarms feel less flabby now.. the downside is that, pressing too many buttons makes my wrists stiff and achy.. i think i pressed more than 300 buttons and keychains altogether.. i shall not press any buttons/keychains till mid feb!!! I’ve met some of the friendliest stall owners there.. 2 of them bought quite a number of my buttons.. mostly Tim.. One of them, Joan, is now sorta my partner in stall.. Meaning if there’s any bazaar outside of PaTH which we’re interested in, we’ll share rental to just rent 1 area to test out the place.. Do check out her lovely blog here.. =D She make some really lovely accessories!! i love her pendants most.. They’re all very intricately shaped by herself and to date, she’d sold more than a thousand pieces!! Joan also saw my RB gallery and was interested in my SilentCries series of drawings.. she said that i should sell them at my stall too.. it’s really kind of unbelievable and encouraging at the same time.. it’s like someone told me in person, to actually try sell my darker designs at my stall.. i guess i can give it a try, hey? i just printed 3 designs.. all 3 for myself to wear.. i think the designs here will be accepted by the emo kids, hey? I’ll be making SilentCries designs into pendants soon.. and yea.. hope i’ll be able to get a buyer or two.. i did make them into buttons and keychains.. can’t recall if i sold any.. but i think they look kinda odd on button/keychain.. they’ll look nicer on pendants or tees.. ok, i’m babbling.. Click here to view some photos of me and my stall..

I’ve been so busy lately, spending so much less time on RB than I used to. Many things to think about and some big decisions to make. It’s life, ya know? And hopefully things will be better soon. In that vein, things ARE looking up because this morning I checked how many views I’ve had since I joined RB last fall and I hit the 10,000 mark sometime over the weekend!! This just tells me that I AM on the right track and good things ARE coming my way! Thank you to all of you, my friends here on RB for always taking the time to look at my work and all your kind comments. Your support and love help me remember all is well and life is good! Peace, love and happiness to you all! / XO Jenny

    by Sharon Mau

Isn’t it amazing? It seems it was 1970 j…

Isn’t it amazing? It seems it was 1970 just three days ago…... / The 70’s was a monumental time for me personally, graduating from high school, venturing off to explore the world, marrying my first husband, experiencing the miracle of the birth of my first child, surviving an almost fatal car accident and almost simultaneously suffering the sudden death of my beloved Father, which left a vacant gaping wound in my heart that took years to heal…...... as well as experiencing devastating emotional and physical abuse and a heartbreaking divorce…. The 70’s was a time of innocence, and a loss of innocence. .. yet, I learned so much and I have no regrets. I became independent, reevaluated my belief system, shed my childhood conditioning, totally redefining my life as I discovered my own personal and spiritual values defining who I am, what I stand for and what I believe. I returned to my childlike innocence. I embrace my rich and dynamic cultural heritage, opened my eyes and my heart and embraced other cultures and languages as well. I am grateful for every experience, for every lesson I have learned from every person I have met and I am grateful for every good thing that has happened in my life. Fast forward to the 80’s with several moves on the mainland from the east coast to the west and all points in between, with several transcontinental moves, enjoying several years living in Europe, exploring other countries and mastering foreign languages. The 80’s was a time of enlightenment, a time for spiritual ascension and moments of profound revelations, a new marriage, delighting in the births of two more beautiful children. And the music of the 80’s was awesome. I especially loved U2. The 80’s was prime time for me. I wish I looked now like I looked in the 80’s with long thick auburn hair and flawless ivory skin. :)))) It was a decade of working and playing and personal growth and realizing that I could create my own reality as I followed my dreams. The 90’s were certainly interesting. Another divorce. I devoted most of those years as well to nurturing my young children and refining my career. Imagine my surprise and dismay when my Irish heritage manifested itself as my rich auburn hair transformed virtually overnight to a platinum blonde. It is still a surprise each time I look into the mirror. It was a time of tremendous sacrifice as well and often times I worked three jobs as I explored many interests and tried so hard to maintain a good balance in my life. Such as Time flies and the last decade certainly seems to have breezed by as if in a dream. From the year 2000 to 2009 so much has happened I could publish a book and it would probably be a best seller for the places I have been, the people I have met and the things that have happened are so fascinating. I am so amazed that it is now the year 2010. So much has happened this last year. I was single and independent almost 19 years when I met Jacob. And now this year Jacob and I celebrated our first year of marriage. I have met hundreds of members of our family on his side here on Maui. Most everyone on Maui is related to us. If they are Hawaiian, they are probably our ohana. :)) We have made many new friends and lost a couple of frenemies :)) You know who they are, the ones who pretend to be your friends, but they are really your enemy and when you have a disagreement they only do their best to slander you and bring you down as they project and impose their own personal opinion, belief or value system on you without regard for your truth or your heart. The true friends who remain have my best interests at heart, as I do theirs, and they help to protect my heart. I am grateful for my true friends. We have experienced some tragic very sad events as well. It certainly hasn’t been all fun in the sun. We have also buried many of my husbands family and life long friends in 2009. Through it all we face each day our own mortality. Every day we realise, we remember and acknowlege that each day is a gift. / We focus on the good things in life. Yet, most of all we have had tremendous fun and enjoyed many wonderful, some truly extraordinary experiences here on the island. For me personally it has been educational in so many ways. No one can really know the Hawaiian culture unless you are submerged in it. You may come here on holiday and explore the island, shop the beautiful galleries and gift shoppes, see the sights and explore the ocean, the seacliffs, the cloud forests, the rain forests and the many beautiful beaches, yet to truly know Hawai’i and understand this magnificent culture, you must live here. I try to share this beauty with all of you through my imagery. I am so happy to hear from you when you leave a note and let me know my work and the splendid poetry I search for and attach to my images to breathe life into them speaks to your heart. / / On another happy note, in a couple of weeks my son and his wife will be welcoming the birth of their first child, a precious baby girl. She will be my fifth grandchild and Jacob’s tenth. Imagine that, between us we have 15 grandchildren. Wow. My son is my youngest child and I cannot explain how I feel knowing he will soon be holding his own child in his arms. If I could wave my magic wand she would be born here on the island. How I wish we could, it would be so wonderful as I have not seen my children in three years and I would love for this child to be born on Maui. I have three beautiful talented children. My oldest daughter (the one I grew up with) is married with 4 beautiful children. My second daughter is still single (thank God) and attending university studying to be a graphic designer. And my son is having a child. I miss them all so much and I love them more than my own life. Jacob has 7 beautiful children, and we are truly blessed, for our children are our legacy and they are our greatest gifts in life. To all our family and friends, we wish you love and sweet compassion. We wish you tremendous success and every happiness. May you all enjoy a fabulous new year!!! / / Aloha oukou / E pili mau na pomaika`i ia `oe / `Okole maluna Jacob and Sharon Mau /

  • Christmas Joy & New Year Excitment
    by Carrie Glenn

    I hope this Christmas found…

I hope this Christmas found you and left you with much joy along with the excitement of a New Year! / A special “Thanks” to each an every one of you who purchased my artwork and apparel for Christmas gifts for your loved ones this year! Thank you to all who purchased my “New Years” greeting cards and I trust everyone had a safe and exciting New Years! There was much for me to be happy for this year as it was my first year back in California and I was able to celebrate with family that I haven’t been able to with in a while. The weather alone was a Christmas gift for me; it was clear and 75 degrees, a Holiday paradise! While it wasn’t a White Christmas it was indeed a Bright Christmas, (literally…I needed sunglasses!) I simply love everything about Christmas. Decorating the tree, the incredible smells, like pine, cinnamon and clove and baked goods. I also adore creating special presents for friends and family and wrapping them up to look irresistible. This is something I share in common with my Grandpa I recently found out, we both go nuts and all out for all Holidays. Give either of us any excuse to celebrate, enjoy seasonal food and decorations and we are all over it! I always make sure to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, carve a pumpkin on Halloween and decorate eggs on Easter…and it doesn’t end there mind you! There is just something so wonderful about getting into the spirit of the season, especially if you are a creator. This new year was just as happy for me. I spent it at home curled up in a blanket watching movies, and made it to the countdown by watching Kill Bill Vol.’s 1. And 2., with homemade popcorn. Aaaah, and that is always a recipe for happiness for this girl. There’s something about a countdown that makes my heart leap. Unfortunately that also happens to me on those late night television sales pitches, there’s just nothing like a ticking down clock to create intensity, luckily, I am aware of this, and can avoid them as to prevent irrational purchasing of useless items! Oh, but on New Years to be counting along with so many others at the same time always brings more than a touch of nostalgia to my heart. Connecting with others is something that will probably always get to me, like the way RedBubble brings so many of us together from so many parts of the world, it’s a beautiful and wonderful thing! / Now that this New Year has arrived with much joy and anticipation from me, it is now time for something new. It’s time for me to clean up and put away all of my Holiday Festivities and move forward into this new year with a clean slate, chalk full of new ideas and creations. Happy Creating To All This 2010! / CarrieGlennStudios.Com / My Zazzle Gallery
