Many thanks toSandraEllen for her wonderful input without her this piece would have remained a vision in my head, Thanks Sandra! For my Brother Matthew who Sadly lost his good friend Simon in a tragic car accident just under a year ago. R.I.P Simon we have all missed you more than we knew we ever could. For Matthew, and for Simon. Work by Sandra here SandraEllen why, then oh why, can’t i / It may be contagious again Simon ... The Gambler by Kenny Rogers On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere, / I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep. / So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness / til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak. He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces, / And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes. / So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces. / For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice. So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow. / Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light. / And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression. / Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, / Know when to walk away and know when to run. / You never count your money when youre sittin at the table. / Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done. Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin / Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep. / cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser, / And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep. So when hed finished speakin, he turned back towards the window, / Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep. / And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even. / But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, / Know when to walk away and know when to run. / You never count your money when youre sittin at the table. / Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, / Know when to walk away and know when to run. / You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table. / Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done. Matthew BARGAIN hunters from the bush led the Magic Millions bidding war yesterday as hundreds of buyers snapped up potential champions at the yearling sales. More than 800 horses went under the hammer in the mid to lower range of the market as savvy battlers searched for diamonds. Brothers Matthew and Steven Park travelled down from Oakey for the annual Sunday sales with the hope of securing a bargain bay or a cheap chestnut yearling. They ended up paying $10,000 for a chestnut filly. “She’s definitely a bargain, but you will have to ask me in a year’s time whether she is a good investment,” said Matthew. Mr Park and his partner Samantha Vuksanovic run Symphony Lodge, a training school and vendor for prominent breeders Oakland Stud. Mr Park said he had grand plans for the filly and hoped to train her into a future Magic Millions champion. / “She is built like a tank but she looks like she can run,” he said. / Both brothers were impressed by the quality of the horses in the second half of the yearling sales. / “It’s great for the smaller operators to get a look in,” said Matthew. / “There’s still a lot of good quality stock which is well-priced and still within our reach.” / The brothers will continue bidding over the next two days.

It’s so strange how the mysteries decide to open your eyes to things, things that once your eyes are open, are so clear, so clean, so obvious! It’s all in the timing a lover once told me years ago, and I have found it’s so very true. As you read this, you may be wondering why would someone risk a friendship, contemplate changing it into something romantic? Life is too short not to take risks! And if it’s a true friendship, it will remain regardless of whether those other sparks actually ignite or not. :o) Carpe Diem!!!!!!

  • Would You Still Be My Friend?
    by Cindirelli

We are family / not by choice / but by fate. / A roll of the dice / The deal of a hand.

This question comes to my mind every now and then ~ lately I have felt the urge to pen it, so I did. I feel I should make a personal note here: There are 8 children in our family, plus our mom (our dad passed 1-1/2 yrs ago). Sometimes (surprisingly enough, LOL) we don’t always get along. So when one or more of us cross that dark bridge, I just wonder if the friendship would still be there if we were not related.
