  • This image was taken at Honeymoon Bay, Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania. I like it because it has a children’s storybook feel to it. I spent half an hour photographing a group of little girls playing under the tree. There were five more of them out of sight, closer to the water. These two were the teachers and the others were the class. In this shot one of the girls put her arm around the other (not really the usual sort of thing that teachers do) to present a charming moment! As the sun was sinking it was magic! I shot it dark to enhance the silhouette and to intensify the colours in the sky. This image has won a couple of l awards and was part of a greeting card set called Light, Land and Water. Captured with a very old second-hand nikon 25-50 zoom. A great lens! Velvia scan. “Friends Forever” was featured in the group Dawn and Dusk Light.

  • “Marbled Sky“ I found this scene on the way home from a photo shoot with my sister, Manikah. We had visited Beaver Town to shoot the Arkansas Golden Gate Bridge. Beaver Town is a quaint nostalgic community just outside of Holiday Island, near Eureka Spring, Arkansas. Of course, on the way home we took every dirt road we could find! ...lol When we were crossing a low-water bridge, I happened to glance down I saw this “marbled sky”! My eyes are always searching for the art in nature :)

  • Written by ~ Charles Dickens: And Angel Voices Say… The pure, the bright, the beautiful / That stirred our hearts in youth; / The impulses to wordless prayers, / The streams of love and truth; / The longing after something lost, / The spirit’s yearning cry; / The striving after better hopes… / These things can never die. The timid hand stretched forth to aid / A brother in his need; / A kindly word in grief’s dark hour / That proves a friend indeed; / The plea for mercy softly breathed / When justice threatens high; / The sorrow of a contrite heart… / These things shall never die. Let nothing pass, for every hand / Must find some work to do; / Lose not a chance to waken love; / Be firm and just and true; / So shall a light that cannot fade / Beam on thee from on high, / And angel voices say to thee… / “These things shall never die.” / All profit goes to Feed The Children

  • This alleyway is located directly opposite where I have been picking up either one or both of my children from school for the past 8 years…. It has the feel of a very familiar and friendly place. The ‘locals’ who ask for a dollar or two for their next hit reasonably regularly quite understand if some of the time I can’t help them out…. / Every now and then I’d mention to my son that it would be really good to get a photo of this alley, and he’d keep on telling me – ‘But Muum – you should have your camera with you ALL THE TIME’. He’s right. Sony Alpha 350, Tokina 19-35mm Lens, Focal Length 24mm @ f4.0, 1/50 Sec Exp, ISO 400. Taken in July (mid-winter) just as the evening light was fading at a great rate, and it was just beginning to rain a little… O – and I just have to add again, that this image looks LOTS better LARGE… :)))
