Fleur busy on the beach – although it was a lovely day the fret was so bad it was like a really bad foggy day – once away from the beach bright blue skies.
When the devil finished, Johnny said: / “Well, you’re pretty good, old son, but sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it’s done. / Fire on the mountain. Run, boys, run. The devil’s in the House of the Rising Sun.
Strange fantasy creature has some wise advice for us when our stress level starts to rise…. Don’t sweat the petty things, and don’t pet the sweaty things. Humor for home or the office.

They Neither Toil Nor Spin Once in an early morning time when the children were / sleeping and I was enjoying the tranquil beginnings of a new day, I noticed a little squirrel just outside my bedroom window. He was scratching around in search of his breakfast when all of a sudden he caught sight of a luscious find—a plump mushroom that had sprung up almost magically during the rainy hours before dawn. The squirrel nibbled all around the tender cap of the mushroom leaving behind only a naked stem. Not long after, another squirrel appeared. Evidently he wasn’t too persnickety because he chomped eagerly into the leftover stem with great relish, sending bits and pieces flying across the lawn for the next hungry creature that came by. It was an amusing little scenario, but it was also inspiring and instructive. I thought about how those two little squirrels had fallen asleep the night before when there was no mushroom in sight. Most likely they had drifted off peacefully, instinctively relying on the One who always provides. In the morning, they had gone out in search of that provision, had found it and accepted it, not only without complaint, but with exuberance and enthusiasm. Like the lilies of the field, I realized, the squirrels neither toil nor spin, not in the sense that they don’t work, for they do. But, rather in the sense that they do not expend valuable energy and time in needless worry, fretfulness, or grumbling. The next time a need arises in my life and there are / no answers in sight, I hope I’ll think of the lilies of / the field and the squirrels in my yard. I hope that / I too will neither toil nor spin.

I asked my son to play for me… and he did. Music… it fills our lives with joy, sharing in our laughter and happy times, comforting us in the dark. It asks nothing in return, but for us to listen… and feel.
The concept for this painting came from one of my coworkers and it seems to beckon the likes of a campfire horror tale. One in which a ghastly white hand reaches from inside the acoustic guitar in your bedroom and begins to play you a midnight serenade. I decided to paint this in a much looser fashion than most of my other work and find parts of the painting to be unusually interesting. The piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The intense granulating character of this paint coupled with the texture of the Arches paper creates for very interesting effects. Featured in Music of the Spirit group in November 2009. /
