  • Arrr…, memories now of a lovely romantic holiday sitting on the beach of Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia. To think SHE was reading a book….! As is, from the Canon with standard 55 mm lens.

  • The sun was shining, perfect blue skies, wind a bit chilly but otherwise a perfect day for photographs today in the Munmorah State Recreation Area near Budgewoi on the NSW Central Coast. This shot was taken from Snapper Point just above the huge cave there and looking out to this huge rock. I couldn’t resist this shot with the waves breaking and the water cascading over. Unfortunately the sun wasn’t right for shots of the cave so I will have to make another trip there. This magnificent park affords magnificent coastal views from many vantage points, two camping areas at Freeman’s Camp Area and Birdie Beach, plus many walking trails. Today the wild flowers were beginning to bloom so I’ll be back with the macro for a few of those. /

  • What else should I call it…If you have been to Fraser Island you have also seen this wreck. The challenge for me were the king tides. / High Tide was at 9am but even before sunrise at 5am the tides were coming in so strong that I had to leave before sunrise. Otherwise I would have been stuck here (but safe) for many hours. / You are not supposed to camp 500m either side of the wreck…well, I didn’t camp. Just had a power sleep in the car as I really wanted to capture the wreck at night and then at dawn. And guess what…I was the only one…haha, no tourists

  • I love to photograph great blue herons. I found this one at a marshy area in the estuary of the Fraser River in south west British Columbia. The autumn leaves make a nice background to the beautiful blue feathers of this magnificent bird. The image was captured using a Nikon D700 and Nikkor 600 mm lens on a monopod. I used the following settings on the camera: ISO 800, -0.67 EV, f10, 1/1000s. The image was processed with Lightroom 2.4.
