The setting sun disappears behind the Golden Gate Bridge and bursts from behind a sailboat out on the bay.
San Francisco
The Golden Gate Bridge was barely visible in this dense morning fog. From a cliff overlooking the bay, the north pillar was visible as well as a misty outline of the San Francisco skyline in the distance. Built in 1933, the bridge was completed 5 years later in 1937. It is a part of US Highway 101 and State Route 1, and is the only road to exit San Francisco to the north. A bit of trivia: The suspension bridge is 8,981 feet in length and is 200+ feet above the water. It has a total of approximately 1.2 million rivets holding it together. An iconic structure that never fails to excite and attract me whether I’m driving over it or taking pictures of it.

A surreal and mysterious view of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. The fog cut off the top half of the bridge, but gave it a gothic look at the same time. Closeup:

The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate bridge on a foggy day. I heard its normal for it to be foggy but I cant be sure I only been there twice so far and the first day was beautiful and clear. Today I decided to go and it was foggy. I took a different route and actually walked the bridge part way. It was a nice walk and hopefully I can go again before heading home (FLA) and it be a clear day so I can get some nice photos during the walk on the bridge. A photo taken of the Golden Gate bridge from the southern area, San Francisco side. It was a beautiful day. you know, LA gave me a bad taste in my mouth 20+ yrs ago and I never wanted to set foot in California again but work brought me to Petaluma and I must say I love northern California. The scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly. I met many people while out shooting and I told them all about redbubble. I hope to meet some of them here on day. I wish I had more time in the area, but I am heading home (florida) on sept 11th. But it looks like I will be going to Barbados here in a week or so. So I hope to bring some more wonderful photos for more to enjoy. was featured in $$☻Get Art Promoted☺$$ Camera Model: Canon EOS 50D / Shutter speed: 1/640 sec / Aperture: 5.0 / Exposure mode: Tv / Flash: Off / Metering mode: Evaluative / Drive mode: Single frame shooting / ISO: 100 / Lens: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal length: 28mm / AF mode: One-shot AF / Image quality: Raw / White balance: Auto / Color space: sRGB
