Originally a photo from my recent trip overseas but this has gone further then my usual photography and is more of an artwork. I really like what I’ve achieved and its thanks to the Redbubble community encouraging me to try new styles and be adventurous. Here is another Paris scene I captured on my recent holiday. I’ve tried a similar processing to my earlier Eiffel Tower shot, I hope it works in this case.

This shot was taken on the streets of Paris (yes a lot of my images are from my trip, I just saw too many beautiful things not to share). In this shot the Cherub seems to be alone or lost, and the falling drops from the fountain above I thought were like Angel Tears, tears for the little one they couldn’t find.

Cityscape was shot from the top of the “Arc de Triomphe” in Paris (France). Far away you can see “La Defense” district. When the shot was taken the avenue was strangely empty, all the cars seemed to be escaping the city. I think this photograph will be great on Laminated print, Mounted print or Canvas print. Dream

In 2003 my wife, her sister, her friend and I flew to Paris. I was so excited because I had gotten a small taste of France in the ‘70s when I was stationed in Germany and had been dieing to get back. Visually a photographer’s dream shoot location. We were lost as soon as we stepped off the plane. My wife claimed she took 4 semesters of French and passed, yet when spoked to in French and I looked at her she would shrug her shoulders. So none of us spoke French. But we managed. We walked 90% of the time and I carried a back pack with a Nikon N-90s, Nikon 8008s, 20,35,50,135,180, and 500 MM lenses, tons of film, flash, tripod and my trusty Holga. (By the way, I was out of work 4 weeks recovering from a neck injury from carrying this backpack.) I had semi-planned ahead, knowing we were going to walk, for the series “A Walk Through Paris”. As we walked, I shot, crossed items off my list and we walked some more. This series was shot with a Holga camera, held together with a lot of black tape. Processed, scanned and then tinted with my custom sepia like action in Adobe Photoshop.

Sacre Coeur, Paris. The amazingly original basilica is located in Montmartre, leading to the highest point of Paris city. First constructed in 1875, it was not completed until 1914, due to a problematic law system that almost stopped construction entirely. Only saved by a loophole, construction finally continued to the end. I didn’t get to spend as much time here as I would normally like to, but the climb to the top of the tower was worth it for the incredible view of the city below. Original shot layered twice, with 3 textures, colour altering of each layer, blending of layers, further colour altering and an omni light effect. I decided to turn a few of the pics I had published (see here) into pieces for the folio. This is the rear view of Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. This cathedral resembles a neo gothic castle from this view. I wanted to give this one a historic look, but it has taken on a more fairy tale appearance. I love it when the piece takes over and creates itself! Notre Dame, Paris, captial city of France. The last in my Notre Dame series. I created six versions of this shot, trying different textures, colours and layers, but this was the first one that moved toward a theme or emotion that I wanted. It feels quite lonely and stripped of hope to me, but I’m sure it will have varied meaning to the individual.
