The storms were fierce with a ton of rain last night. I decided to take of work and spend the day at the falls near my house. I must have snapped 200 pictures today. What a great day!! I found a new toy its my infrared lens. Most know of Pakistan as a third world fanatical Muslim country full of terrorists. I have lived in Pakistan, my parents were born and raised there and though it has its many faults it also has its many beauties, its many treasures and many things that I love and cherish. At Work is a picture of my maid, Sakina in her small and modest home where I captured her hands as she used two rocks to grind herbs and spices to make that nights meal. This is a method still used in homes where a mechanical grinder is a luxury and not a necessity. According to Sakina and her mother, herbs ground on a rock maintain the rich flavors that are often lost by all our machines.

I didn’t intend for the striped part (bottom) to / be like that. I’d added an “artistic frame” and was trying to / move it around with the hand tool-but accidentally clicked / the magic wand instead. Meg had fun posing, and Nanna had fun with the processing! Created with two photos and a few layers. Extracted the background from the legs, desaturated the colours, overlaid a photo of a texture and blended the background image through. I dragged this little table into the water at Shorncliffe and sat an old picture frame on it as a storm came across the bay at dawn. / I took an 80 sec bulb exposure @ f16 and when I processed it I put the picture ‘into’ the frame and then again into the smaller frame within that etc… /
