The Arizona desert is often seen as a harsh and unkindly enviroment. However, these prints show the natural beauty revealed once a monsoon has past and left a mark… a stamp… on this othewise arid land.

This calender is invocation of some of my favourite parts of Tasmania from her beautiful coastline to her inland tranquility. These 12 images are phrased by the desire to promote a landscape that is both diverse in its nature and threatened by its fragility.
The Alhambra – Arabic: literally means “the red one”; the complete name is “Qal’at al-Hambra”, which means “The red fortress”) is a palace and fortress complex of the Moorish rulers of Granada in southern Spain occupying a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada. Once the residence of the Muslim rulers of Granada and their court, the Alhambra is now one of Spain’s major tourist attractions exhibiting the country’s most famous Islamic architecture, together with Christian 16th century and later interventions in buildings and gardens that marked its image as it can be seen today. Its most westerly feature is the alcazaba (citadel); a strongly fortified position. The rest of the plateau comprises a number of palaces, enclosed by a relatively weak fortified wall, with thirteen towers, some defensive and some providing vistas for the inhabitants.

Covered bridges have a very long and revered history in the United States of America. These, once purely utilitarian, stream crossing structures are now recognized as the true works of art that they truly are! The historical and artistic value of each of these few remaining covered bridges is beyond measure, especially to those who fully appreciate their beauty and significance. The covered bridges featured on these pages were all photographed in the north central region of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania still has the greatest number of these unique structures, more than any other state in the country. The vast majority of historic bridges have been lost to floods or deterioration. Please enjoy the ones presented here, while they are still standing! © 2009 Gene Walls All copyright and reproduction rights are retained by the artist.
