Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Isopogon anethifolius Isopogon – from the Greek, isos, equal, and pogon, a beard, referring to the hairs that evenly cover the fruit; / anethifolius – from Anethum, a plant of the flannel flower family, and folium, a leaf (i.e. with leaves like Anethum) Isopogon anethifolius occurs in the coastal region and Blue Mountains of New South Wales and is one of about six eastern Isopogon species. The common name of Drumsticks alludes to the large knob-like fruits which are a feature of the bush. The bright yellow flowers are crowded in globular heads at the ends of branches in late spring and throughout the summer months. The fruit, of about 2.5 cm in diameter, persists on the plant for a considerable length of time. It is attractive, both on the plant and in floral decorations.
Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Poached Egg Plant (Limnanthes douglasii) Loved by butterflies and attractive to bees, these pretty little flowers (approx 15cm (6”), are a hardy annual. They have bright green foliage and the flowers are yellow-and-white.
Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Striped Gazania Gazania is native of South Africa and is also called Treasure flower. The plant is treasured for its strangely patterned daisylike flowers. / / It grows to a height of about 15 inches with a spacing of 12 inches. / / The Gazania flowers bloom in solid colors from yellow to orange, red, pink and white or in or in wild color combinations with splashy stripes or rings of contrasting colors. They can be as large as four inches across. The leaves are finely lobed, dark green above gray, and grow in compact clumps 8 to 10 inches tall. Each clump supports a number of flowers held above the leaves on 6 to 10 inch stems. Spring – October 2008 – Straight from the Camera!
This was not at all what i had expected. It was just a picture of a lovely tree, leaves ablaze, the light filtering through. But to my surprise the light infact transformed into all the colors of the rainbow. It was almost magical. These little surprises are the moments i cherish. /

normally it’s the blue & white of Greece that enchants … but I see that in some areas slightly different colours are introduced, and I was finding them equally enchanting … here the yellow gate was just so welcoming!!! gotto love it :) Canon Eos450D 18-55mm lens / June 2009
