Done for Anzac Day / The image represents a fallen soldier, who’s remains were never recovered during the first world war. It didn’t matter to me what side this soldier was fighting on. / The letter at the base of the post was his letter he kept close to his heart and was to be his last letter to his loved one.

Info for the 101 group; / Shot late morning (not the best time of the day I admit) 70MM,f25, speed lost as it’s been through the Photoshop mill. / Loads of techniques used, but one that can make a difference if you like the texture look. / Take a pic of textures you see, such as brick walls, concrete is a goodie, crumpled paper etc and drop them on to your image within photoshop. Fiddle around with the blend modes and your will be surprised at the results. To darken images I often apply a new layer, then edit/fill/50% grey and set the layer blend mode to Overlay. I then grab a Soft brush with foreground colour set to black and an opacity set to between 3-5% and paint away. The idea is to darken parts of the image so that the lighter bits guide the viewer thru the image. They did this in the dark room days and called it Burning. You can also duplicate the layer and use the Burn tool for much the same effect with a choice of what you wish to effect: Highlights,Midtones or Shadows.
Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
The story behind the lady in the image. I was approached by this lady in Elizabeth St, Brisbane. She saw me attempting some street grabs and asked if I would take her photo. She also went on to tell me that this Target bag was her most faved possesion as since her brother moved up north, she had no one. Her brother now lives beside a Target shop and so when she gets lonely she just looks at her bag and it reminds her of him. / When I look at this image, I often wonder how she is doing.
“I love it when we get the chance to walk like this.” / “I do to. We don’t do it often enough…do we?” / “How long have we been together?” / “Twenty two years next month. It’s been a while.” / “It has…..heres to our next twenty two years. Maybe this twenty two years will be easier. The kids are all grown up and I think we are who we are ever going to be….besides, I love walking with you!” / “Me to!”
My Dad always said that I should show an appreciation of all music. He said with classical music that the best way of getting to know the music was to imagine characters interacting. With each other and the world that you imagine for them. It doesn’t matter if they are nonsense characters at all. You see the thing is that you get to appreciate and enjoy the music. I see dancing notes when I hear music.
